Per the coloring guide of the Pegasso kit (he is wearing shorts, tunic and peaked cap:) "The tropical uniform and dress used by the Germans was made from canvas or cotton, in sage green or tan (a reddish brown color.) Given that the uniforms and equipment were exposed to the harsh African sun and with frequent washes, the clothing and equipment would weather and fade into a lighter color/tone. Furthermore, it was common practice that officers and soldiers mixed caps, emblems and accessories of the tropical uniform, with those used in the European Campaign." Given all that, you should be safe to go with anything in reason. Pegaso gives the following colors: Cap, tan with emblem metalic silver; visor, brown glass lens, leather visor; jacket, made from cotton, no specific color (see above) with Nazi emblem sewn onto a dark brown base; trousers, tan cotton; knee socks, sand color; boots, dark brown; epaulette, red base, silver and gold braid. I painted my figure with acryllic Vallejo, and assorted others on hand. I think you could use any brand you prefer. I don't have anything specific about Rommel's skin coloring; check elsewhere concerning sun burn and related.
