I am not a figure guy, and was wondering what scale 54mm is close to? Thanks!

Check out the above page. According to it, 54mm = 1/31 scale. However, my beleif is that 1/35, 1/32, and 54mm are interchangeable. You'd be hard pressed to see any difference between them. 54mm is the figure model standard and 1/35th is the armor model standard. 1/32 is the aircraft standard.

its more like 1/32 to 1/30 scale

The big question is what size the miniature is and not what it says on the box. A lot of resin 1/35 figures are more like 1/32 or even bigger. Likewise, some plastic figures tend to be small.

In theory you can combine some 1/35 and 1/32 figures, but its also very problematic. Yeah, some people will say you can't see the difference, or that people vary in height, which is true, BUT... bigger figures have bigger accessories. For example, a GI pot helmet only came in one size, so if you have a true 54mm figure with a true 1/35 figure, the helmet (gun, belt, boots, canteen, etc.) will all be way out of scale. Just looks funny...

Even within brands figures vary. I opened two boxes of 1/48 Verlinden Germans yesterday... a set of officers (1/48 or close) and a set of motorcycle dispatch riders who are at least 1/40 scale!
