Primer For Vinyl

I recently aquired a Kaiyodo vinyl Godzilla (glow-in-the-dark, but that won't make a difference). What I need to know before beginning construction is what type of paint to use as a primer-auto primer, straight-up Krylon primer, etc. It's going to be a deep charcoal grey, not green. Any input is appreciated, please include name brands, colors and store locations if possible-I'm in the NorthEast US and have a whole 15 days before I have to return to work. Thanks in advance
