Response to Bo, that's what sets us apart. Rule of Law.

Trials of the five terrorists in US civil courts for what are crimes of war violate the fundamental rule of law in such cases. First, it is a violation of the basic principle of the Geneva Convention which prohibits civil trials for acts of war. Second, from a simple criminal procedural perspective, it is impossible to impanel an impartial jury in New York. Third, not criminal lawyer in his right mind defending these bad guys would prefer a civil trial over a military trial -- I say this with 27 years of being a lawyer.

It should be remembered that all five of these defendants asked to plead guilty in military court and their pleas were not accepted. Where in the rule of law there?

This is a matter of the triumph of appearance over substance and the true rule of law be damned.
