I was not a teacher but I've seen a lot of those things you describe down here in the lower 48! It's a crying shame what we are doing to our children and ultimately to ourselves and our country.

One of the poorer school districts back in my old home county has decided to get rid of all their text books and issue "loaded" iPads to all the students. Supposedly this will eliminate the need for all the books the students will need; reading, math, history, English, etc. It's scary.
