in the stuck opened position will act like a lean vacuum leak so you would have a slow acceleration pattern because there is more air than fuel entering the engine on demand. The valve may need to be replaced but also do not forget to look inside and see if it is all schmucked up with scum. Again, replacing the valve is the problem but there could also be a cause as well. If it is fairly clear, it may be just the valve itself.
