Response to 60's American Muscle cars: hell on wheels-in a straight line

My first 4 cars were a 72 Nova SS, 68 Camero, 73 Nova SS and a 70 Superbee. None handled all that well although the Camero would have been OK if it didn't have a Rat sitting on the front suspension. Learned to take corners with the gas pedal and used to regularily beat much more nible cars(Civics mostly) on a short course with the Camero, if I didn't make any mistakes and got around them on a corner there was no way they could ever catch me.
These days with ultra powerful cars that handle like slot cars I don't see that happeneing as much.
