I've read it suggested that my local fire hall is the oldest continuous, active duty fire hall in North America. I don't know if that's true but here's a look.
It was built as the St. James Fire Hall No.1 in 1912. It became Winnipeg Fire Hall 11 when my city of St. James was absorbed into the City of Winnipeg about 40 years ago. It's a couple of blocks away from me and it's been serving us for 100 years. After hearing all the news about the 100th anniversary of the Titanic, I got to thinking about it. Fortunately, this piece of engineering has been much more successful
