In English, "odometer" means an instrument that measures distance traveled (in kilometers or miles), whereas "speedometer" means an instrument that measures speed (in kilometers per hour and/or miles per hour). This distinction may be difficult to keep in mind, because many automobiles locate their odometer display and/or trip odometer display within their speedometer's display.
