But I'll just reiterate what I said earlier - make guns more difficult to get and there will be fewer gun related deaths...maybe not fewer nutters who want to kill, but that's a different argument.

As for going over the result of your revolution 240 years ago, I don't see the point in raising that - it appears to be the adherence to an out-of-time document that is the problem, not the revolution itself; it would be a bit like us in the UK solving land ownership disputes using the Domesday Book (which was written 700 years before your Constitution, I might add!). Although, I wonder if our ancient laws dating from the time of Henry V to ensure that we kept up our practice in the use of the longbow, were ever repealed? (LOL).

I doubt very much that there will ever be agreement between the two sides of the Atlantic about this issue.

My final word is going to be that even though I'm a former soldier and so do have experience of handling weapons, I can still see absolutely no reason for a civilian to own a gun for personal use.
