I didn't know they even had throttle cables on cars these days. Yeah she could have easily gotten out of this situation but at 17 and being a girl it's most likely she had almost no idea how to operate a car beyond going from A to B. Not that 75% or more of drivers regardless of the age or sex would know any better but experience may have helped an older driver. One reason everyone should have to learn to drive stick, I doubt most people who probably have only driven automatics all their lives even know what the N means, or L1, L2, etc.
