The SLL JH Championship is this weekend at Eastwood HS. Wrestling starts at 10a and the finals will probably be around 2-3p. The favorite is Eastwood who is 7-0 in league duals, followed by Gibsonburg 6-1, Genoa 5-2, and then Woodmore and Elmwood. Genoa is the defending league champions. This is going to be a very exciting tournament, good luck to all teams and wrestlers.

Haven't followed all the duals this year, but did Rastwood Wrestle Oak Harbor. If so what was the outcome. I know the high school has always been a pretty good rivalry.

Eastwood won SLL title today. Eastwood led Gibsonburg by 4 points after the first round but Gibsonburg led by 20+ after the Semis and 10+ after Consi Semis. Eastwood wrestled excellently in the finals and caught some breaks and finished 9-2 in the finals. Gibsonburg had a rough finals and finished 2-10. Eastwood won by 19.5 over Gibsonburg with Genoa taking third over Elmwood by 1.5 points and then Woodmore, Lake, and Lakota and Otsego tied for 7th.

I have seen both Eastwood and Gibsonburg in action this year. Eastwood beat them in a dual but I think Gibsonbutg may have a better tourney team. Let us know how it goes.

I would like to applaud Gibsonburg for their fantastic season. This team entered the season with 5 returning 8th graders. Those young men did an excellent job of convincing their friends to join the team and attempt to win a SLL Championship. The team had 18 wrestlers all year long, finished 2nd at Mohawk, 5th at TCC Duals, 1st at Fost Duals, 1st at Fost Inv, 2nd at SLL, and a dual meet record of 18-3. It was an excellent and exciting year, and I hope this is a sign for what is to come for the varsity squad. Congrats Eastwood on winning the SLL Championship and congrats Golden Bears on your fantastic season.
