In MS I would say Oak Harbor, Liberty Center, Gibsonberg, Gateway (Maumee), and Springfield.
Oak Harbor would seem to be tops in HS as well with Eastwood, Waite. I am not sure about 4 and 5

All These teams from the same league but they are definately tops in Northwest Ohio. I don't think Oak Harbor Junior High has been challenged by any team in Northwest Ohio this year.

Elida and Lima Bath have two of the stronger teams I've seen in a couple years. Elida and Liberty Center will both be at the Napoleon Inv. this weekend so there should be a lot of competitive wrestling. The Blue Jays look forward to being there also.

You are right Elida has a very strong team. The dual with Oak Harbor could have went either way the deciding match was really the bergman/green match. Elida won 45/42. Oak Harbor did however give up 18 pts in forfeits.
Oak harbor has beaten a Liberty Center 57/27. As for Wauseon ,Oak Harbor had 9 champions at the Genoa Inv. and in my opinion that is enough to give them a head to head advantage.
Are Lima and Elida really considered NW Ohio?

Eastwood and Gibsonburg may not be top 5 but they both have wrestlers that are top 5 in their weight class. Eastwood and Gibsonburg lost in a dual to Oak Harbor (Eastwood faired better). Eastwood lost to LC by like 5 points at the LC Inv. Gibsonburg also lost a dual to Elida and finished behind LC at the TCC Duals. Eastwood beat Gibs in a dual by 7 and then beat them at SLL Champ by 19.5 pts. Gibs finished 2nd at Mohawk behind Willard by 9, 5th at TCC Duals, 1st at Fostoria Duals, 1st at Fostoria Inv, and 2nd at SLL.
The rest of the SLL is full of excellent wrestlers. Here is a list of wrestlers from the SLL that should be considered in the Top 5-10 of NWO.

If you want to clean up your notes it was Derec Blodgett from Tiffin that beat Jon Angelone 8-6OT at the Fostoria Duals. You had Adam Oakleaf listed on the other thread and I see here again (Jon would not have lost to the other kid:)) Also Blodgett wrestles 122 so I believe you guys bumped up Angelone for that match.
Not a big deal but I can see you keep pretty good records and thought you may want to fix that one.

Oak harbor was beat by Elida in the Toledo Central Catholic dual tournament...In my mind Elida is one of the best teams in Northwest Ohio. Elida went 21-0 in duals this season and knocked off Oak harbor and Colombus desailes to win the tournament. Elida also won every individual tournament this year except for the Elida invitational which the got second place only behind the champions by 5 points.

Lima Bath only lost to Elida 43/42 and gave-up 24 points to voids. Head to head Bath has a very strong core of wrestlers to watch for. Very impressive to watch this group.

I like to compare teams based on head to head competition or the placement of wrestlers in common tournaments. You are correct Elida beat us "Oak harbor",head to head. Elida gets my #1 spot, Oak Harbor and Bath have not wrestled in either a dual or tournament so #2 spot needs to be a tie. Wauseon has a good team but has not finished higher in a tournament than either Elida or Oak Harbor, so they get my #3 spot.

Duals are different than tournaments in defining teams. What was Oak Harbor's record in the head to head match up with Elida? I just do not think that Oak Harbor in tournament style scoring can be touched. I will say that both teams seem to be very classy and well coached.

Yes, Elida beat DeSales at the Toledo Central Catholic Duals mentioned above.
DeSales Forfieted 5 weight classes and their wrestler at 122 pounds was up 2 weight lasses. DeSales only lost 3 of the contested matches, while Elida lost 8. Not what I'd call a convincing win when your opponent is giving you a 30 point advantage.
You sure you want to use that Dual in your argument?

Your assertion that Elida is a great team is questionable.
What Elida has is a full team.
Sure they beat DeSales, but DeSales was forfieting FIVE weight classes.
Elida won three contested macthes, While DeSales won EIGHT.
(You also have the score wrong.)

Below are the rest of DeSales Results from that day, in case you want to see how some of the other teams discussed, like Oak Harbor, macthed up.
The Stallions only took 11 wrestlers to the team duals at Toledo Central Catholic H.S. Despite forfeiting FIVE weight classes and giving up 30 points per dual, DeSales lost ony 5 contested matches the entire day, winnning 45 of the 50 macthes actually wrested. Unfortunately, 3 of those losses came in one dual. Combined with the five forfeits, this was too much for the Junior Stallions to over come and they dropped their first dual match of the year. The eleven Stallions brought home the second place team trophy, which isn't bad for fielding 2/3's of a team. Results were as follows:
(* denotes the number of weight classes wrestled up.)

I guess I could agree with you. DeSales has an awesome team. If it wasn't for the 5 forfeits IMO they would have won. Oak Harbor also gave up 18 pts in forfeits where we usually only give up 6. Those points make a bif difference. I just don't like to take things way from the winning team or make excuses. Head to Head Elida beat Oak Harbor. Do I think that Elida was the best team at Central Catholic? No, DeSales probably has the better team. But they are also not from NW ohio.

maybe desales did have the best kids there... but they are a club team. they accept kids from all different schools. but it was a dual tourney... and what is a dual tourney about? TEAM... Elida did beat oak harbor and desales head to head... wasnt that what the whole tourney was about? winning it as a team?or am i mistaken?

Yes, I am aware that Columbus DeSales is not from NW Ohio.
(Remember, that I didn't bring them into this conversation.)
And I agree with you about making excuses.
I wasn't trying to do that.
I just put the facts out there about that Dual, because if someone is going to use a dual where one team is forfieting 30 points to claim that the team receiveing the points is great for having beat the short-handed team, Those that disagree with him might want the facts of that dual.
That is why I put the other scores in the post as well. I was thinking that detailed results of various NW teams against the same team might give some indication of how they stacked up.
By the way, of course the goal of every team at a dual tournament is for the Team to win that dual tournament, but the the subject here was "best team in NW Ohio", not "best DUAL Team in NW Ohio".
Anyone else find it ironic that the "club team" that "can accept wrestlers from any school", went to Toledo with the 11 wrestlers that was their entire team at that time? Meanwhile the public schools had full rosters, or even two teams.

That is my point in saying that dual teams and tournament teams are different.
My top two NW Ohio tournament teams are Oak Harbor and Liberty Center.
My top two NW Ohio dual meet teams are Wauseon and Oak Harbor.
Oak Harbor was missing a couple of difference makers when they met Elida.
So was Elida the best team on that day, in that tournment? Sure. I do not know about over all though.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
so let me get this straight... you have liberty center as one of the best tourney teams in nw ohio... ok... but they were beat in the napoleon tourney by elida by over 50 points... that doesnt maker sense?
you have oak harbor as one of the top dual teams as well... elida beat them?
arent we a little biased?

I see your point. Although I was speaking of a tournment such as the OAC in terms of scoring power. Wauseon beat Liberty Center by a 100 at there League tournament. But I do not consider them on par with Oak Harbor & LC in the OAC as far as scoring. Just they way you look at it I guess.
