Ego boost

Had an uplifting moment last night that I just thought I'd share

On the way home last night, a girl made eye contact a couple of times, and then when I got off the tube, at the last minute she got off as well and jogged to catch up with me... and asked me out! I was so shocked (I don't think I've ever been asked out by a girl before) I didn't really know what to say at first.

I obviously said thank you, I'm very flattered, but sorry I'm not availible.

There's a self esteem thread around somewhere, and I have to agree that an A (or two) knocks you something rotten, so I'm sure all can imagine how much of a boost this was! [The cutest bit was that wasn't her stop, she had to wait for the next train!]

Wishing you all have a happy day

Will you tell her?

July 31 2007, 9:15 AM

This is a wonderful thing to have happen just as an affirmation of you and the still alive attraction factor. But, quick question? Will you tell your W about this? If it happened to her, would you want her to tell you? BlueIris

Of course I told her

I told her as soon as I got back. Why shouldn't I? I didn't ask her out, I turned her down.

I would almost be so bold as to suggest that hiding things like this is just asking for an A. Wouldn't that be the start of the slope? I would certainly expect my wife to tell me things like this.

You're exactly right, Adam - it would be the beginning of the slippery slope. That's why you and I are on this side of the betrayal fence - because we understand that. A situation like this (that isn't shared) is an ommission that at least borders on sexuality. It is absolutely something I would - and have - shared with my H when its happened over the years.

As for sidewalk stares/glances from others, I think I'll raise the topic with H. Now that we're in recovery, he's doing everything humanly possible towards not putting himself in situations that could be deemed questionable...even won't ride in an elevator with a woman unless there are others around. But life happens, people chat, endorphins fly whether they're in line for coffee or at the DMV. What spouses do with those moments (including recounting them) is very telling.

BTW - I'm still happy for you that you were noticed.

Adam:

It's a double boost, maybe more. You get to know that you're attractive to women, and you get to know that you did the right thing, making you even more attractive.

That rocks....

It would be too slippery of a slope for me to handle at the moment. I seriously considered revenge affair a couple of times, thought it might help him "get it" a little faster. But, of course, I didn't. Good job stickin' to the good side.

Ego boost

Hello Adam.

I have followed your story, and you are an incredible young man! I would never have though such a young man could have so much wisdom and maturity as you have.

Of course it was right to tell her. That is how healthy relationship is. It is the most natural thing to do. The scareiest part is when it is not natural to tell what is going on, but to keep it a secret and to hide it. I salute you and your way of thinking!!

Hugs from Bjørg.
