In one scene the nuclear specialist tells a crewmember that religious icons are not allowed aboard the boat, which is true. The Soviet military did not allow any religious icons or even studies of religion. In fact, that was a doctrine of the entire Soviet State. It was a Godless Union that frowned upon religion. But later Capt. Vostrikov exclaims "may God be With You" to the soldiers who entered the nuclear reactor for repairs.

Also, I noticed that it seemd there were always dishes falling to the floor and breaking. On real submarines at sea, mealtime utensils are more sucurely fastened down.

Another thing - It seems that almost all crewmembers were able to weld the reactor cooling unit. I would think that there would be only a handful, if that many, soldiers who even knew how to weld.

These inaccuracies did not hinder my enjoyment of the movie however.
