Jim Crow lives, the New York Times reports, not in Mississippi or Alabama but in California, or at least the California state prison system, in which the penal authorities have for long routinely separated inmates of different races for the first 60 days of their extended vacation at the expense of the taxpayers. Now, the iron logic of egalitarianism is catching up with this insidious vestige of white supremacy in a lawsuit launched by a black inmate who feels deeply wounded because his rights have been violated.
This citizen is a gentleman named Garrison S. Johnson, convicted murderer, who has been demanding redress since 1997, with the pro bono assistance of a New York law firm. Two federal courts have already rejected Johnson's suit, but now it's going before the Supreme Court on appeal.
"The decision below undermines a national imperative to eliminate racial discrimination," the appeal argues, and those who defend the system have to tiptoe their way around that particular holy cow. The defense of the prison policy usually offered is that it's not permanent and doesn't confer any advantage on one race or another (it's applied to several different racial groups known for animosity toward each other, not just to blacks and whites—Japanese and Chinese, Vietnamese and Laotians, etc.) and is necessary simply to avoid interracial violence among chaps who are violent by their nature. The Times doesn't mention it, but the in-prison segregation needs to be preserved for yet another reason—to keep non-white inmates from raping whites, which they reportedly do routinely and with little concern for punishment or retaliation.
In a 2001 report published by the liberal Human Rights Watch, a researcher named Joanne Mariner disclosed facts the mainstream media have long ignored or denied: There are more men raped in the United States—about 90,000 every year—than women—a mere 40,000. Most of the male rapes take place in prison, and good many of them are interracial, with blacks and Hispanics searching out and raping white men. [No Escape: Male Rape in U.S. Prisons]
The stories the report recounts, described in a 2002 article in the newsletter American Renaissance, are graphic and repellent. "I had no choice but to submit to being Inmate B's prison wife," one white convict said. "In all reality, I was his slave.… I determined I'd be better off to willingly have sex with one person, than I would be to face violence and rape by multiple people. The most tragic part to this is that the person I chose to 'be with' has AIDS."
Another white prisoner in Michigan reported that the black inmate who "claimed me as his property" "publicly humiliated and degraded me, making sure all the inmates and guards knew that I was a queen and his property. Within a week he was pimping me out to other inmates at $3.00 a man. This state of existence continued for two months until he sold me for $25.00 to another black male who purchased me to be his wife." Those are only a couple of the less lurid stories from the Human Rights Watch report.
And why does this sort of thing happen? It happens not only because prison authorities don't stop it but because white prisoners themselves won't either. The report recounts that though neither black nor Hispanic convicts will tolerate a white man raping one of their own races, whites do virtually nothing to protect each other against black and Hispanic rapists.
As the report puts it, "African Americans typically face sexual abuse at the hands of other African Americans, and Hispanics at the hands of other Hispanics. Some inmates told Human Rights Watch that this pattern reflected an inmate rule, one that was strictly enforced: 'only a black can turn out [rape] a black, and only a chicano can turn out a chicano.' Breaking this rule by sexually abusing someone of another race or ethnicity, with the exception of a white inmate, could lead to racial or ethnic unrest, as other members of the victim's group would retaliate against the perpetrator's group."
The American Renaissance article put it a bit more bluntly: "The racial dynamic in prisons puts whites at a tremendous disadvantage. First, whites are often outnumbered by both blacks and Hispanics. But far more important, just as they show no racial solidarity in 'the free world,' whites in prison do not band together to protect each other from predators."
All of which helps explain why prison authorities want to keep the races segregated, at least until newcomers learn their way around. It may also explain why Garrison Johnson brought the lawsuit in the first place. But most of all, it helps explain what's wrong with white people—and not just those in prison.
Dunno how this is something to be proud of... in any capacity.

What Europe are we talking about here? Cuz the white boys here in western Europe (apart from English chavs) are as bad as your average Suburban American. BTW, it's amazing how fast we have changed. A while back I read a book on the Algerian War, that s.hit ended less than 50 years ago, well within the memory of many people alive today. What "white men" are you talking about? The Americans essentially occupied half the middle east, after Beslan crisis there were a series of massive operations in Chechenya days after the incident. Ill give u guys an example when I was about 16 I was walking with my friends and another group of people (white) were walking opposite direction towards us, me and some guy must have been 19 years old, locked eyes and he said something racist I wont say what, so when I responded he said something like I'll fight u one on one come, so I faught him and I kicked his 4SS, (not because im a minority and we have superpowers when it comes to fighting, but because I took boxing at the time, and the other guy gassed out 1 minute into the fight. I grabbed his hat, and threw it over a fence we were standing near by. Later on cops approach me, cuff me, slam me against a car, say they're going to fvcken kill me cuz i think im tough or w/e, I end up in a holding cell, they transfer me to a jail for people that are refused bail.
Im there for five days, the whites there were segregated, I was with them for a day, more dessert, we ate in our cells, more exercise time, nicer guards, overall better atmosphere, then a white guy came and they had no room for him so they transferred me in with the blacks. Pretty much a 180, ******* sadistic guards, not as much security, I was involved in a fight and there was many because they put two different groups in there, less dessert sometimes non. Also the guards there didn't seem to care about the inmates, there was two guys there that pretty much bullied everyone else and they got away with it, pretty much no intervention whatsover.
Im taken to court, and I'm told that I could be sent to adult prison for 2 years for robbery with a dangerous weapon. Now I would like to explain to you guys that I have had no prior record, grade A student, didn't even drink at the time, don't do drugs, had a principal who was willing to vouch for me and they were still trying to give me two years. (I'm not a gangster either, I talk in a normal way and I'm very polite most the time) if I was a typical broke immigrant I would have had to plead guilty which alot of them do, because the lawyers provided are crap, and they dont understand the legal system. One of my teachers at school got involved (jewish guy) and sent one of his relatives to represent me, and I easily won, ended up costing my parents a lot of money.
But to all the white guys here complaining about immigrants taking over, or them having benefits, you don't know sh1t and you're acting like a bunch of spoiled kids who have everything but want more.

Kia is absolutely right, their is serious prejudiced in the American judicial system. That doesn't go to say that most minority criminals are unlawfully put in prison, far from it but their are serious inconsistencies on a daily basis when prosecuting a white guy to some black dude. The most telling statistic I recently read was that blacks and whites in America consume drugs at a near equal rate, yet nearly 80% of those arrested for drug possession are black. Bad luck if your a brotha?

That's because you have no idea of the brutality of prison life. If you are a dominant black man, you don't express your dominance by using your hands. You exert it by fooking a white man. You get to f*ck something warm AND you get to raise your status among other blacks and hispanics by having a white boy as your bitch.
If you drop 10 women in the prison, the dominant black guys would claim all ten and leave nothing to the white men. But since there are no women, they claim the white guys themselves. It's very simple. LOL

Oh, I'm sure everyone fights it the first few times, I cannot imagine that anyone wouldn't, frankly as far as unpleasantness is concerned everyone would rather get the s.hit beat out of them than raped. The thing is, whether you're 6'5 or 5'6, there is not much you can do if you're by yourself, especially since it takes time to get weapons. There is no such thing as a lone wolf in prison, only lone sheep. While you're defending yourself against one homeboy another one comes behind you and smashes you in the back of the neck, and you're hitting the ground, no two words about it. Your head is smashed against the floor and the next thing you know you're waking up and two guys are holding you down while the third plays cornhole commando on your ass. lol. The same thing happens the next few times and eventually you decide it's better to just go straight to the raping without the accompanying headache. lol. So you become a whore, end of story.
