So the 2011 NFL Preseason has begun, which means it is time for the 2nd official WAFF NFL Pool. I think we all had a lot of fun last year, so please participate. In addition, it looks like Freya will be rousing herself to play the weekly hotdog game again (we suspect she will beat Saif this year), so even if you don't know the slightest thing about NFL football you could get a cool award for your sig like Provost has...Freya was only 4% behind him and she only cares about the number of hot dogs she gets when making her picks! So here are this years pool rules...
You must pick from the list presented in the weekly thread (please try to keep to the formatting as outlined...it makes things a lot easier for me).
The minimum number of picks you must make over the course of the season is 128, if you do not make 128 picks you are not eligible to win the award...however you can still play along and point out to other WAFFers how much better you are at this than they are.
Every week you make at least 10 picks you get 1% added to your final score.
If you are the only participant to pick a team to win in a specific game and they win, you get a bonus 1% added to your score for each unique pick.
To be counted a pick must be posted BEFORE kick-off time for the game.
All decisions of management are final.
We will be creating threads for each week for you to post your picks (and for love of God, please try to use the formatting as indicated) and discuss the match ups and results.
Please discuss anything related to the match ups or results in the weekly threads and save this thread for overall NFL/season discussions (...such as how the Dolphins are likely to go 0-16 this year ) or making season bets (i.e. changing your sig to your opponent's team for a week every week it does better than your team, etc.) with your fellow WAFFers...and so let the trash talking begin!!!!
Please work out any matters you have with warnings or bans with the Moderator responsible...only after this has not worked may you e-mail an Administrator for questions about bans or warnings...
Do not e-mail the forum owner about bans...the final determination on bans rests with the administrators.

I don't know why y'all are bothering, I'm simply going to prevail again. My superior football knowledge is evident for all to see, so don't waste your time.

Award should have being mine because I will have win if I play the last 4 week all ready I was being first place but Colade did not make thread for to make the picks for last few week.
[WAFF Mgmt. Note: Please never do that again Saif. Award logos are for the exclusive use of WAFFers who have won a particular WAFF pool or WAFF event. As for the threads...
Titty, not only do you have no chance, but stealing my richly deserved award should be not only beneath even you but a forum rule violation.

The first couple of weeks of the season will be difficult picks since the NFL is coming off
the lockout, not to mention the injuries teams are already facing from the lockout.
It will take a few games before continuity settles in the NFL...
Somebody else has to win the NFL tittle this season, PAPA's head is already swollen as it is with last seasons
victory, if he wins again.... OY... there's no living with him!
Would it be easier to use some free pick'em game available on espn or some other site? It would be less stuff to manage for waff and we can just focus on participation.

Google "US Armed Forces NFL Pool"
...also we don't mind doing it. Besides you can call your fellow participants far more names here on WAFF than you are allowed to on ESPN.com...

NFL Preseason 2011: Will Lockout-Related Injuries Slow Teams Down?
August 19 2011, 9:53 PM
Pfft..! Aint no mutt better than me!
But what i said does have truth to it... There's a bunch of players that are out for the season.
The NFL free agent frenzy has quieted down, and now most of the football-related news unfortunately deals with injuries.
So far, 10 players have torn their Achilles tendon since training camp opened, and will likely be out for most if not all of the 2011 season. Other players have suffered bicep, knee, leg, foot, toe, groin, hamstring or ankle injuries.
A total of 99 players are recovering from some form an injury, according to CBSSports.com injuries page.
The sad thing is that that number will continue to grow during the remaining days of training camp, as well as during the preseason.
So will these NFL teams slow things down during camp to prevent more injuries from happening? Or will they continue to do their normal routine and hope their players remain healthy?
Injuries are a part of the game of football, and it's something teams must deal with not only now, but over the course of the season.
However, it appears that there are going to be a slew of injuries this year, more so than usual, and NFL teams need to be prepared for this.
The NFL lockout prevented teams from getting together during the offseason, and it greatly hindered all those involved in the league.
Players were on their own this summer, and it was up to them to stay in shape and work out without supervision from their coaches. Some players and teams worked harder than others, and soon, we'll know how well that all paid off.
What we do know now is that not only are guys getting hurt, but they're suffering serious injuries, and it will have a huge impact on the 2011 season.
Thankfully, the lockout is over, and these guys once again have full access to their team's training staffs.
As of today, not many star players have fallen to the injury bug, but who knows what lies ahead.
There is no way teams are going to drastically change their routines for training camp or preseason practices.
They will be more aware and a bit more cautious, especially towards their star players, but they're not going to mess with the plans they've already made.
Things happen, and guys go down with injuries. It is apart of the game, and there is nothing NFL teams can do about it.
Changing up the routine would just be a huge setback for these teams. They need to be focused on the upcoming season, and what it will take to win it all this year.
If teams spend too much time worrying about injuries, then they're just asking to get demolished on the football field. Football is about adjusting, and handling adversity.
If a player gets injured, then the good teams are still able to fight thought it and find a way to win. Just look at the Green Bay Packers last season. Everybody knows they lost multiple key players to injuries, but yet they still won the Super Bowl.
Overcoming injuries can and will be downer. It comes with the game, and it will not slow these teams down. Sure, it stinks to lose a guy, but that's life, and you have to play with the cards you've been dealt.
"So you can tell that mangy fleabag of yours I'm not making up excuses, and if she wants some of me, then bring it on!"
Well she doesn't have fleas (or ticks)...the $300 I cough up for Advantix every year sees to that....'grumble', grumble',blood sucking veterinarians,'grumble', grumble',
If you are so confident why don't you do the weekly sig bet with Freya this year?

Dude, don't waste your money on vets when it comes to treating your dog for fleas... Frontline works just as good and you buy it
over the shelf.

Because I'm busy looking at porn..! HELLO? This is what I'm doing at the same time too.
"The whole Freya thing, while kinda cute at first, is getting a bit old."
Actually wasn't going to have her do the whole thing again...I will however get her to eat the hot dogs and make picks, I find that rather amusing, and who am I to deny such a face...
...some bonus treats every week?

Quotations by global leaders on phuckistan
British PM David Cameron: There will be lots of questions about what support system bin Laden had in Pakistan, and we need those questions answered
White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan: Certainly his location there outside of the capital raises questions. We are talking to the Pakistanis about this. It's inconceivable that bin Laden did not have a support system in the country that allowed him to remain there for an extended period of time
Our government is in fiscal distress. To make contributions to a country that isn't going to be fully supportive is a problem for many, said US senate intelligence committee chair Dianne Feinstein
German chancellor Angela Merkel: The al-Qaida leader's death has exposed some gaps in antiterrorism campaign
French foreign minister Alain Juppe: I find it a little difficult to imagine that the presence of someone like bin Laden ... in a relatively small town could go completely unnoticed. Pakistans position lacks clarity in our view
"Please do not make you annoying dog playing again this year. "
Hmmmm, how to respond to that? How about, "Please do not make that annoying used-saif" playing again this year, he making constant whining and excuses about why he a loser is tiresome."
"We should be having WAFF Fantasy Football which I will beating every one like this picking winner game."
Set it up and run it and WAFF management will provide what assistance we can.

I am pretty sure Provost is a lawyer actually...you'll have to ask him yourself as to the other thing...he does seem to have quite the fashion sense though...and a thing for hats...hmmmm

I have no idea...basically you have to pick the winners of the weekly games. My dog plays too, by eating hot dogs off of labelled plates, so even if you don't know anything about NFL football (like Freya and myself) you can join in. There is a link to the standings (Win/Loss record) in each weekly thread if you wish to get all scientific about it. The first weeks thread is here...
