Band:Descendants Of Cain

The Mic: What got this band together and started in
this business?
Descendants Of Cain: D.o.C. started as Chad Stoecklein, Jeremy Schumacher, and Luke Gottschalk in early 2002. We had each been playing our instruments for well over 2 years, so we all just decided to jam together.

The Mic:Who writes and produces all the material for
the band?
Descendants Of Cain: What starts out as just a cool guitar riff, has everything flow around it. The music is always made first, then lyrics always end it.

The Mic:The band played in front of or with any acts
our readers would
know from the Mainstream?
Descendants Of Cain: Jacknife, Full Blown Chaos, Dryline, Gulch, My Ruin, Lowgear, Decimation

The Mic:Where can people access your music on the web?
Descendants Of Cain: www. myspace. com/descendantsofcainks

The Mic:Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Descendants Of Cain: A show in Hays started out kinda slow, so we all got really tore up during a break we took. Low and beholda mass crowd showed up so we had to play the rest of the show hammered beyond belief

The Mic:Any good stories you want to tell us?
Descendants Of Cain: There was a time when somehow our drummer Schu's shoe ended up on top of a hotel in Salina and we had to make a human pyramid to boost him onto the roof.

The Mic:Who is the bands musical influence?
The bands we tend to listen to most are In Flames, Soilwork, and DevilDriver

The Mic:How did the band get together?
Descendants Of Cain: We went through about 3 different guitarists and bassists over the last 6 years and we are now the band we are. Chad (vocals), Schu (drummer) are the only original members left, then Joe Lanning (guitar), Mike Murphy (guitar), and Mario Lazoya (bass) have added on.

The Mic:What is your musical background like?
Descendants Of Cain: We all started playing instruments around the time of high school, except Jeremy who's family always has been involved in music.

The Mic:Any other members in your family that are
musicians?
Descendants Of Cain: Chad's little brother plays guitar also, Jeremy's family are all musicians. Joe, Mario, and Mike all are the only ones in their families who play.

The Mic:What is the TOP reason why you want to play
music?
Descendants Of Cain: There is an intense rush that we all get while on stage. There doesn't seem to be a lot of money in playing so none of us have ever really seen any personal profit. We are all still here though, so that says a lot about our stance on music

what's your stance on file swapping?
Descendants Of Cain: At this point of our music career we love it. The more people who hear it means the more that we get to travel to play at their hometown

The MIC: what is the process of making a cd?
Descendants Of Cain: It all starts with recording the drums, then everyone else plays along one at a time, finally vocals get put down as soon as the music part gets mixed.
how do you get the word out about your music?
Myspace works really well, word of mouth, and interviews like this

The MIC: how is your local responce to your music?
Descendants Of Cain: It's always a good show, people that don't even like metal music still come out just because we're fun to watch.

The MIC: what is the farthest you have traveled for a gig?
Descendants Of Cain: Colorado Springs, CO

The MIC: What tune on the cd are you most proud of?

Descendants Of Cain: I would say "To Take on All" because it is the definition of our band. We want the challenge of getting out there and traveling as far as possible to play our songs.

Now let's break away from the tradtional band questions you get asked all the time...Let's have some fun...

1. Why do HOT chicks date ugly dudes?
Because hot chics are already short on brain cells, they don't know any better
2. Why are all guys in porn movies Douche bags?
Because in real life they'd rather jerk off than do a real chic
3. When Rappers do interviews on TV, why do they always have a wall of Kung Fu movies behind them?
They're trying to learn how to fight hand to hand combat, because we all know they don't carry guns.
4. If a billionaire would come to your band and say you could play with any band..living, dead, broke up,etc.
*Who do you play with 3 bands one has to be your band...
Pantera and Slayer
and
*Who opens and who closes?
We open, then Slayer, then Pantera closes it out.

Thanks for being with us today
