Band: Guinevere
The Mic: What got this band together and started in
this business?
Dan: Summer 2007 I was bandless and wanted to start my first metalcore band. I contacted drummer (Walter) and we started throwing the idea around of starting a band. I knew Walter had been in previous band(s) with Alex and we asked him to join. After a few months trying to find another guitarist and a bassist, we finally snagged Tony (guitar) and Garrett (bass).
The Mic:Who writes and produces all the material for
the band?
Dan: The way our music comes together is usually I will write the music and fit it to someone’s lyrics. Alex, Garret and Walter all write lyrics for the band.
The Mic:The band played in front of or with any acts
our readers would know from the Mainstream?
Dan: We haven’t played anything HUGE, but some of the touring bands we’ve played with have been Lori Anne, His Casket Awaits and we have a show this summer with the Cast Pattern.
The Mic:Where can people access your music on the web?
www. myspace. com/guinevereks
The Mic:Any embarrassing moments on stage?
Dan: I wear glasses, so you can probably foresee my problem. Just about every show we’ve played my glasses have flown off and I would have to play the rest of the set blind.
The Mic:Any good stories you want to tell us?
Alex: There was this crazy ass ****** and he called himself uncle Migel. And he like was just chillen in front of our merch stand all night and recruited our merchie into his ‘gang’; vatos locos. And our guitarist Tony became his nephew. He also was hating on the white members of the band, and told Tony not to trust us for a second.
The Mic:Who is the bands musical influence?
As I Lay Dying, All that remains, Haste the Day, Black Flag, and Storm troopers of death
The Mic:How did the band get together?
The Mic:What is your musical background like?
Dan: Mine is fairly vast. My first band was a Pop Punk/Ska band. After that, I was in two prog rock bands. I also enjoy playing the blues and have even jammed in a church at a county fair playing bluegrass.
The Mic:Any other members in your family that are
musicians?
Dan: My dad dabbles in guitar.
The Mic:What is the TOP reason why you want to play
music?
Dan: I love performing and writing music.
what's your stance on file swapping?
Dan: whatev’ If they want it that bad to ‘steal’ it…well that’s kind of flattering.
what is the process of making a cd?
Dan: well there is this thing on itunes and it says burn, but it doesn’t really its just kind of button that has flames on it. But first you need to insert a CD into the drive to burn the disk, then you need put all the music into a playlist then click the burn and shabam the CD is made.
how do you get the word out about your music?
Dan: Play as many shows in front of as many people (that like your genre of music) as you can.
