BERLIN DROP

The Mic: What got this band together and started in
this business?
We, Nathan and Aaron, played instruments, and we were inspired by other bands that we saw playing at shows, and we wanted to try our hand at it. We put together a band and started cranking out the tunes.
The Mic:Who writes and produces all the material for
the band?
The main writing responsibilities are controlled by brothers Nathan and Aaron, the original members of Berlin Drop.
The Mic:The band played in front of or with any acts
our readers would
know from the Mainstream?
We have opened for Hurt (Capitol Records), as well as members of the Galactic Cowboys (Geffen Records), and we have opened for members of Danzig's band.
The Mic:Where can people access your music on the web?
http://www. myspace. com/berlindrop
The Mic:Any embarrassing moments on stage?
We played a local show where we were without vocals. The soundman thought our amps were too loud. We stopped playing after 4 or 5 songs. Not really embarrassing, just disappointing - we have had a lot of those moments.
The Mic:Any good stories you want to tell us?
All of our drummers spontaneously combust when their time is up...
The Mic:Who is the bands musical influence?
Black Sabbath

The Mic:How did the band get together?
Two of the members are brothers (Aaron and Nathan). The other members have been friends, aquaintences, and now-enemies.
The Mic:What is your musical background like?
Aaron played in the school band for 2 years, and attended a few musical theory classes, however, this did not really influence his playing. He ended up being self-taught. Nathan is self-taught and practices and studies music constantly. All other musicians in the band have been self-taught.
The Mic:Any other members in your family that are
musicians?
The brothers' dad has studied music all his life and holds a Bachelor's degree in music. He is also a choir director and composer.
The Mic:What is the TOP reason why you want to play
music?
Nathan - Because it is fun and to express something.
Aaron - It keeps me busy in a creative way and allows me to focus on what my life means to me.
what's your stance on file swapping?
As long as the band agrees to the files being distributed for free promotional use, it should be allowed.
what is the process of making a cd?
We write and work on a batch of songs until we are generally happy with the way they sound. Then we go in and meticulously record the tracks, making sure all the parts are easy to work with. We play back the recording as we progress and make needed changes and additions.
how do you get the word out about your music?
Flyers for shows, word of mouth, myspace, radio promo, networking, free stuff for our street team.
