President of the Republic Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the Greek Cypriot administration is doing everything it can to prevent the Turkish Cypriot people from benefiting from the Financial Aid Regulation. The President was answering reporters’ questions last night at an opening at the Ataturk Cultural Center.
Explaining that the Greek Cypriot side was doing everything in its power to prevent the economy of North Cyprus from benefiting from the Financial Aid Regulation, President Talat said that the Greek Cypriot Administration was also making efforts so that they could get the control of the Financial Aid regulation themselves.
Noting that he was aware that the Greek Cypriot side had prevented the Financial Aid Regulation from coming into force in Cyprus, President Talat said the Greek Cypriot side does not want the economy in the North of the island to improve and strengthen.
Explaining that it is COREPER and the European Council that will make the final decision on this issue, the President of the Republic said that the Turkish Cypriot side wanted both the Financial Aid Regulation and the Direct Trade Regulation to be taken up together and the Financial Aid Regulation to be changed so that it can be implemented.
