Hey everyone I'm a new member here, but a long-time fan of los libertines and I was just wondering how the guys are live. It was rather disheartening when they cancelled their Apr. 24 show @ slim's so I'm quite excited right now with a side case of the jitters. This is my first time witnessing them live and I'm quite nervous beacuse I'm planning and looking forward to talk to them afterwards, maybe get a picture or two perhaps, but I don't know how to act or how to approach them for the fact of that matter. Any tips?

The show was really great. They played all the songs on the cd except for Radio America and a couple of songs I didn't recognize. The guitarist that played in place of Pete was absolutely awesome...he just clicked with the band and had an amazing stage prescence. But, of course, no one can ever take Pete's place (<3!). There were a couple of obnoxious english people in the crowd who were yelling obscenities at the band, which kind of ruined it. They also kept pounding the "what happened to the other guy?" question to Carl to the point that Carl turned around and gave a death look to the crowd - it was scary especially for me because I was right in front of him =/. I thought he was going to yell something back, but returned to tunning his guitar, which was relief. But when they started playing everyone just went crazy for them. I was standing right in front of Carl and was nearly crushed by the force from the rest of the crowd pushing behind me. One guy was pulled out because he was knocking down and picking fights with girls in an attempt to get closer to the band. It was complete chaos. In the middle of the set Carl, of course, took his jacket off causing a series of hoots and whistles from both guys and gals. It was fun. I had fun. The Libertines brought the house down, and it was absolutely smashing, they rocked my socks and everyone else's in that club. Although,unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to play pool with them I had to leave right after. =( Maybe next time?

Bah! - I'm jealous. I'd been hoping somuch they'd play Popkomm over here agin this august. They did last year.

Did you take pics by any chance? And did they play 'Music when the lights go out'?

I didn't take pictures of their show at popscene but I did for the slim's show. I tried to photo all the members, but they're mostly of Carl and Anthony and a few of John, and sadly none of Gary because I couldn't really see him. =( I was afraid that if I put my hand in the air to take Gary's picture the security guard would confiscate my camera because there was a "no flash" policy, so I had to sneak in a couple when I could. The set list was basically the same as Popscene's except this night they did a 2 song encore finishing with "I Get Along". Pics to come in a few days.
