It was such a great show. I admit that I didn't expect it to be so good, what with all the difficulties and with a new guitarist who hadn't had much time to prepare. It didn't matter that it wasn't The Libertines as I know them, it was still so much fun! It didn't even matter that the sound mix wasn't so great; the sound techs had Carl's voice
buried for awhile, but I was still impressed with what a strong voice he has, and anyway I sang every word at the top of my lungs out of sheer joy so the
sound quality wasn't that important to me. It was one of the most enjoyable shows I've been to in years; I'd only ever seen the band for 6 minutes at Coachella, so I can't really compare it to past Libertines shows that other people have experienced. I would definitely go to see that line-up again. It was wonderful to see the band having fun onstage instead of letting the
situation drag them down. The lackluster behavior of much of the crowd was unfortunately typical, just the way people are in L.A., too cool to enjoy themselves unselfconsciously. It's like that no matter who is playing. If the Beatles could reunite and played in L.A., a lot of people would just stand there.
Having two separate Libertines isn't what any of us want, but at least it would be two bands worth seeing rather than no band at all.
