How about the thermostat???

Is your heater core hooked up and do you have a heater control valve in one of the hoses.

If you bi-pass the heater core (hose, nipple to nipple) it also bi-passes the thermostat and will get hot.

Another lesson on my car. I ran a short bent hose between the 2 heater hose nipples, water pump to intake. It ran hot. I blocked the hose and it runs cool again.
