Hello Giancarlo, I'm from Tucson Arizona. In Tucson it is common for some Mexicans to speak spanish in front of non spanish speaking people and not think twice. I also had the pleasure of working in Switzerland for short periods of time where some swiss, germans and french have no problem at all carrying on a conversation where not everyone understood the language, it's the way it is I suppose.
