Dear Andy,

Congratulations on a nice piece! Please post a few pics on your wrist (and by the way, what are the dimensions of the watch and the circumference of your wrist?)

GSM manual

December 3 2006, 7:20 AM

I was wondering if you received the latest GSM manual or the generic reverso manual? The one I was given was a generic reverso manual and still feature the old sun moon model in the manual.

 Respond to this message

(Login andy_moon)

I actually don't have the manual yet.....

December 3 2006, 8:39 AM

There was a mix up with another model at my dealers other shop. JLC also forgot to send the tool for both pieces so I will pick it all up next week..!!

Really a beautiful dial, I am quite jealous. Am I right that the case is 46x29x12mm?

...Congratulation on your lovely pcs.
Awaits eagerly for your wrist shots.
Don't take too long....although we understand by now the Rolex mark should be firmly embossed on your wrist.

December 2 2006, 1:17 AM

So silky smooth to wind up too. I'm still amazed how small the details are....having seen some closeup pics from some very experienced photographers here I was expecting the details to be visible to the naked eye but they aren't...WOW.
Enjoy yours too.

FINALLY!!!!!

December 2 2006, 3:08 AM

Andy,

Congrats on your stunning GSM, a beauty!!!!
I think it is an excellent choise an it was worth the waiting (I hope)
I saw a GSM at an AD and thought that it was larger than other "grande Reverso" watches (it appeared so).
Do you know if this is true? because I red in another message of you that the dimensions are the same??
Anyway enjoy your fine looking watch and wear it in good health!!!

Robin

p.s. did you ever consider buying a Squadra instead of a GSM !!!

Thanks Robin......

December 2 2006, 6:11 AM

It is exactly the same size as the other XGT Reverso's - Grande Date etc. Actually went into another dealer today who had 2 Squadra's in.....now that is a big watch, but not so big that it would put somebody off who likes them a bit bigger.
I hope the wrist shots below show it isnt big on my small wrist...wears much smaller than the Rolex anyway.
Was it finally worth the wait......mmmmmm....YES...!!!!
Speak soon.
Andy.

Some wrist shots.................pics...............

December 2 2006, 6:05 AM

Finally got round to a couple of wrist shots........I thank Tony for the pose but this time with more casual attire...:

and at a slightly different angle......:

I have tried to get a more realistic view by using the zoom on the camera at distance to give better perspective. It really isn't big - this is also why I took a pic next to my Rolex.
Enjoy....
Andy.

December 2 2006, 1:43 PM

Well done Andy.
I believe you have chosen the best watch
possible for the money.
The GSM has everything I personally look for
in a watch..... aesthetics, heritage,an in house movement
and manufactured in the Valle de Joux.
Imho this is a watch to be worn for its appearence rather
than function.
By that I mean the complications are romantic rather
than useful (no date).I hope you understand what I'm trying
to say. What I basically mean is that I think its a watch to be worn for
leisure time and not work days. Its nice to have something to mark
the difference.
Anyway seeing it on your wrist has convinced me I need to save
and get one for myself. It looks a perfect fit for your wrist and I
really hope you enjoy your new purchase.

All the best
Burt.

Re: Congratulations

December 2 2006, 7:19 PM

This is not meant to be a daily watch thus no DATE should not be a concern. It has asethetic appears, moonphase and a 8-days power reserve, which I find is a MUST for manual mechnical watch.

no date isn't an issue and actually means one less piece to adjust every other month..!!

Hi,

I had to delete a post made by a fake Clavi here (I mean: Clavi didn't post it).

All fake posts are going to give posters a full ban from this site.

Sorry Clavi and Andy for all this fuss!

Cheers

Dje

as big of a case size as I would wear. You are a tasteful man. Nice croc strap. Blued steel. Guilloche dial. Mmmmmmmm.
I am jealous. Very jealous. Shame on me.

December 3 2006, 8:29 AM

but if unsure go try on an XGT case in an AD. My strap is still softening in so will fit even better in a few weeks.

My local AD has both the GSM in SS and discontinued Sun/Moon in PG. I like both but leaning towards the original Sun/Moon at this time, especially that I already have a Grande GMT.

 Respond to this message

(Login andy_moon)

Thanks....the original will compliment your GMT...

December 3 2006, 8:33 AM

but would depend if you could live with a shorter power reserve. It was the original that I would always look at in the Book of Timepieces but gold was never an option - then all of a sudden this little beauty pops up this year in SS..!!

It's dark here now and artificial lighting doesn't do it justice. To be honest I havn't removed the protective cover from the back yet..!! I'm amazed how small the details are....there are some excellent close up shots on the site somewhere but some of these details you can't actually see with the naked eye..!!
