I've reverted from a grow grow trim to a growX4months/then trim while I'm trying to acheive some length right now. When I reach my goal of 27" [which will hopefully happen sometime in February during the Ladies Figure Skating portion of the Winter Olympics ], then I plan to #5: Maintain (for a while, at least, and until I convince myself of some good reason to create a new goal and then work toward that.)
