bun curls. avrilon had put something on it a million years ago. you may have to spend all night and/or day in it though. but these is a no heat way and it may give you the right smoothness if you brush out with BBB. here is a post i found (on a different site but from avrilon!)also here's a pic of the process:
When I want the look you're talking about, I do what I learned from Equestrian, who posts here sometimes. It started with Morguebabe trying to create the "Victoria's Secret" look of messy, wavy hair - kind of.
Depending on your hair (its thickness primarily), you would:
Section your hair into approximately 8 sections. The smaller the section the more curl you will get. I like looser ones on my hair.
With each section you first twist the length of the hair and then make one big "pin curl", only really it's higher than a pincurl - maybe like a mini bee butt bun like Karen Marie does. (If you've not been to her site, you must check it out. She is "Accolady" here.)
Make sure the ends of each section are smooth and placed under the little "bun" (like with a real bun).
Secure each one with pins or whatever works for you, let dry and you will have some BEAUTIUFL curl/waves that don't poof up at all near your scalp (like rollers cause).
Without pictures, it's kind of hard to describe, but I do this whenever I want waves/curls and it's very simple. Just make sure your hair isn't soaking wet. It should be just barely damp, or it might not dry overnight. It lasts on my mostly straight hair for two days.
I hope that makes sense! :P
