I was searching online recently and read an article to do with hairstyles for women over 40, which said that if you wore the style when it was in fashion the first time, you shouldn't wear it the second time around. The examples given were two photos of Nicole Kidman - one with a pony and one with a braid.
First, I thought braids were a classic style that never went out of fashion. Always classy, always fashionable.
Two, I thought she looked fantastic (can't say the same about some of the other photos they showed and yet suggested that these women looked good).
Third, I see lots of women who resort to a pony as a casual go-anywhere style. Does this mean that the 50-something woman with the cute pony never wore one before in her life?
Four, I had a pixie and a bob in my early teens. According to this rule - I'm not meant to wear these again. Actually, I'm okay with that.
And finally, while I agree that some of us shouldn't wear again the more way-out styles that we wore as teenagers, when some of those styles have been updated, I can't see why we can't wear them if they still suit us. And that goes for hair as much as clothes.Progress from June 2006 - January 2011

'Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfailing beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.' 1 Peter 3:3-4
