Couldn't find my measure-in for August, but in July it was 36". (I did do a trim this past month of about 3"), so I guess I stayed about the same really. Was trying to get some healthier ends, without the fuzzies and a thicker hemline. Hopefully it'll work.
It appears to be about 13.5 to 14 inches. It's kinda hard to tell measuring myself, because the ends keep wanting to stick in my collar. LOL! Do I have the shortest hair on the Loom?
Ya know what's really sad? If I had not cut my hair, I would be in the 40 inch range now. I can't help but wonder what that would have been like. Now if I wanted to grow it that long again, it would take me a good 8 or 9 years from this length! That's a lot of lost time!! Of course, I'm probably not going to grow my hair that long again, but I can't help but wonder.
Last June, my progress picture was so very very discouraging. BUT I promised myself that I wouldn't make drastic changes (ie cutting or giving up) until Sept 1st.
Now it's Sept 1st, and I am happy to report that my hair and I have called a temporary truce. It stopped looking like something that a cat drug in, and I stopped fussing at it.
The newly discovered waves are still frustrating. They can't decide if they want to be frizz or real waves. BUT I've found that I'm more at peace with them now that I realize they are waves and not damage or nasty stuff.
Length wise, I think the waves are affecting me. Apparently, the longer my hair gets, the more it seems to wave. The more it waves, the less obvious the new growth is. And realizing that also helped me make peace with my hair and it's seeming lack of growth.
HOWEVER, I discovered last weekend that if I grab the longest racer strand and pull it straight............ IT GOES BELOW MY BRA STRAP!!!!!! Now, if only the rest of the hair would catch up. LOL
I'm anxious about measuring. heh heh. I think I'm nervous it will have not grown. I'm going to have my husband do it when he gets back - 20 minutes. Be back...

Routine (thanks to all of you for some wonderful ideas!):
Burt's Bees Avo Butter an inch from root to ends before I lather my scalp
Scalp Wash every 3 to 4 days with different potions:
example 'poo potion: rosemary and burdock root infusion/almond oil/jojoba oil/liquid castile soap/EOs
Deep Condition once a week with different potions - mostly kitchen stuff like honey, banana, mayo, or avocado
ACV rinse or herbal rinse after every shampoo and conditioning treatment
I apparently haven't measured since May and it was 25 inch dry, 28 wet, but today my measurements are DAA DA DA DAAAA
26 1/2 DRY (not very curly today though, messed it up measuring wet)
29 1/2 wet
not much but I'll take it, after so long with no progress.
Actually I'm thinking most of my progress is with new hairs, if you act like your gathering my hair like a pony tail, you can feel 3 very distinct different thicknesses. So about a year from now I will be able to dazzle you ladies and gents with my fabutastically thick braids!! And for that reason i will also keep track of pony tail measurements, last year and a half ago or so when I first joined the loom, it measured barely 2 inches but today
3 1/2 inches!!
Let's see changes, I really haven't been happy with my curls lately, the roots look great, but the old stuff barely curls anymore, it doesnt feel that damaged so I am in the process of diagnosing the problem. I am breaking down my routine and products for just the basics, CO with no other products, and 1st experiment is cutting out protein, so I am using VO5 calming camomile for right now. It's really weird my hair feels soft and dry all at the same time, I don't get it.

Well, I'm still at 21" but I know my hair is loving all of this attention and will soon have a little growth spurt. I must persevere!

38", which is roughly 0.5" growth in a month. Actually, I think I could just stop measuring altogether, because for as long as I can remember, my hair has never grown less or more than 0.5" in a month's time, anyway. None of those growth spurts or slowing down. So I guess I should make the big 40 on... January 1st, 2008!
Oh, and one day I'll get around to posting an updated picture. It's just that the ones I've been taking were all really, really bad. grin

I only got 1/2" last month....I'm at 22.5". BUMMER! Unless I mismeasured last month, which is entirely possible.

but decided to measure today. I am at 35 1/2". I had trimmed my hair way back to around the lower part of my waist, and am now about to tailbone again. My tangles are much more manageable when I am tailbone or shorter. I'm still debating about growing to classic again. I'll have to see . I am going to do a small trim (probably about 1/4" to 1/2") sometime this next week just to make sure my ends are healthy. I haven't posted on here in awhile. Everyone's hair is looking so lovely !

When I first joined the loom a couple of months ago, I measured by pulling my hair straight, and it was at 24", but I had the dh re-measure without pulling it straight, and I'm only at 23". Hopefully I'll see some progress this month, especially since I've been sooo nice to my hair!
Hairy facts of life - 23" long, type 2cciii
Color - very dark brown/black with liberal sprinkling of bright white.
Wash - Terressentials body wash and hair mud - no conditioner.
Treat daily with either Cocoa butter oil or Herbal Sea Concentrate with EO to help detangle and smooth.
Treat weekly with Ojon Hair Restorative, or jojoba with rosemary and ylang ylang eo.
MP detangling comb, no brushing, two braids for bed.
Us curlies usually pull it straight -- hair is hair, and if it curls up that doesn't mean you don't have the length! I even measure mine wet.

I WILL NOT TRIM 'TILL MAY 2008.
Zerran Criteria shampoo
Zerran Moisture Pak conditioner
Zerran Negate clarifying treatment
Joico K-pak reconstructor
jojoba oil as a leave-in
coconut oil deep treatments with heat
wide-tooth jumbo rake comb
wooden comb
"sleep tail" at night
So, then I haven't grown at all, since my first measurement was 24". Sigh. I guess I'm going through a rest period or something. Does stress do it? Because this move to Texas was pretty stressful!

Only .25 growth. Funny, I usually get some extra growth in the summer. Not this year. Maybe in the fall? After all there is global warming and everything's all whacked out now
No regrets from not trimming yet. Love that I went back to the Zerran shampoo - my scalp is much happier as is my hair. I'm anxious to try the Omni Pak and see how it compares to the Joico K-pack, since the Omni-Pak has no mineral oil in it.

your pictures are all a year apart in May! DUH, like it only took me how many years to figure that one out? It looks like you got a lot more growth this past year than the one before. I wonder what '08 will bring? How long are you shooting for?
I guess when I started growing back out my hair, after a 7 inch, cut, should have set a goal in 2005. It was cut to 21 inches in May 2005. It grew to 28 inches in May 2006. In May 2007 it was 35 inches. 7 inches of grow both years. Never been sure how long I will grow it. The photos can be deceptive. My husband should have stood at the same place each time! With the added growth, he has had to back up more and more, LOL. This last year had to tuck in my shirt and show my jeans.

well, I had to trim some this month, crunchy, split ends, stabby, etc... so I'm at 30" now... it still FEELS longer though, maybe because the hem is slightly thicker?

I am currently at 31.75" inches after my trim a week ago. Last month I was at 33.5", so I had just under 2" trimmed off the ends. I usually get a trim every 3 months, and this time I had gone 4, and I felt the ends were getting a little straggly. I was also finding alot of split ends and my hair was getting more knotty than usual. I am currently at waistlength, and I do plan to grow a little longer as long as my ends stay blunt.
After a trim of .5" last month. Last night I trimmed another .5", so I am back to 36". Happy overall!
