Thank You All!

Hello again everyone!

Thank you all so much for responding to my first post and for all the advice.
Everyone is so nice. My hair is long but not nearly as pretty as everyones on here. I made my first change this morning when I washed my hair in the shower. Instead of washing it all the way down with shampoo I did the CWC holding my hair out as I rinsed to keep the shampoo off of it. It never once occured to me that this could or should be done until I read it on here but it all makes perfect sense. The only kind of oil I have right now is olive oil and a bottle of Loreal Vive smoothing serum that is made from something called "Camelina Sativa Seed Oil". I will try the coconut oil as soon as I get a hold of some. By the way, can I get these oils at wal mart?

I am waiting for my hair to dry right now so I can take a picture of it and get it on here if I can figure out how to do it. Also, could someone tell me where I am supposed to measure around my ponytail? I was thinking right under the scrunchie. I think I will go now and look at some the hair products on here. I love using hair sticks but I haven't been able to find any latley.

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO RESPONDED TO MY POST!!!

Hi there!

May 15 2008, 3:48 PM

Camelina Sativa is a type of Brassica plant that is grown for the oil in it's seeds. I don't know if you will be able to find pure coconut oil at Wal-Mart, but if there is a health food store near you, they may carry it. I got mine from the Shea Terra website: http://store.africansheabuttercompany.com/skincareoils.html

Under the scrunchie is a pretty good place to measure!

And as a recipient of a new pair of Fox's hairsticks, I highly recommend checking out the links to Sticks and Stones.

You can use your Olive Oil for now...

May 16 2008, 1:39 AM

I think you can get coconut oil at a lot of the grocery stores now. Heidi W. recommends Spectrum Naturals (I believe that is the company name) Coconut oil. I've seen it at a few grocery stores (not Wal-mart though), but health food stores should carry it, as well as other oils good for hair and skin.

I'm glad you tried the CWC method. I think your hair will thank you for it!

I've heard of people...

buying their coconut oil from Walmart in the food section where they keep other oils. It might also be in a Hispanic foods section if your Walmart has one.

Olive oil works great for some people. I like it for a warm oil treatment occasionally. For this use I actually prefer the lighter, less olive-y smelling, oils rather that my pure pressed EVOO.
