A Locket.

Hello Loomies.
I have two young friends, sisters, ages 11 and 13. We are together as maidens pursuing Godly womanhood, at our respective ages and places in life, and they look up to me as an example. The girls mean a great deal to me.
I am going away in the Fall, and I would like to leave them each a locket, with small locks of my hair inside. They are growing their hair out like mine.

Can anyone help me? Firstly, I need to find two (matching) simple lockets that will accommodate the small bulk of a lock of hair. Then, I need to figure out how to get the hair inside. (The hair is already available. Don't worry about that.)
Thank you. This is something I would really like to do.

My hair has thinned very dramatically, leaving me sad, but I'm trying to appreciate the length that God has given me nonetheless!

I don't know how much money you want to spend...

This place has a lot!!! I particularly like the one with the birds.

These look good for your purpose:

The seller seems to have many of them and is ready to ship to the US (he's in Australia).

To put the locks inside the lockets, I would just wet them so the strands stick together a little more.

Hope that helps!

Thank you, everyone!

All of you are very kind and helpful.
Goldberry, I found two perfect lockets at the link you gave, and they're $10 each...I might be able to do that.
(I probably should've specified my low budget, but I loved looking at all the ideas everyone sent.)

I think wetting the hair is a good idea, and tying it in a circle is, too! I will try that.

no advice about the lockets, but...

...that's such a lovely and sweet idea you have. I'm sure whatever you find to use, they will cherish it.

And I also love your siggy pic, it's beautiful. You look like a fairy tale princess in that photo!

pic: July 2008, perm on it's way out.
Natural blonde with natural highlights (including always-increasing amounts of pure silver in the front....wooohooo!!)

2a - loose stretched out S-waves throughout (I'm sure this will change as the perm grows out)
F - fine strands
i - thin (less than 2" in ponytail)

22.5"/not sure about my length goal yet, but much longer than now, God willing!

I am of no help with the locket, but I just wanted you to know that I think you are a dear! These girls have chosen a wonderful example to follow in you!

tie it together

July 23 2008, 11:43 AM

perhaps to fit it in the locket you could cut a section of your hair from underneath ie 1-2 inches long. wet it so it sticks together neatly, then mould it in a circle and tie it across the diameter with a teeny pretty ribbon. (you might need someone to help you hold onto it) This way,if the locket was opened and it accidentally fell out, then it could be easily picked up.

hope this helps

Current routine:
PPS shampoo for normal to dry hair every 2-3 days. alternate CWC and normal shampoo wash
