Well last month I seemed to have gone down half an inch so either we measured wrong or I've grown an inch this month. Either way I'm at 26 which makes me very happy.

Recently decided to wash my hair when I feel it needs it/I can be bothered, rather than the set routine I had. Currently using soapnuts and the occasional bicarbe rinse. I also ACV rinse after most washes.
I only comb my hair with a wooden comb or boar bristle brush
Trying to grow out my hair back to it's natural colour. Looking at getting my hair thicker this year and much healthier!
I haven't really kept up with measuring in every month, but today it's 98 cm, or 38.6".
I just came back from Hong Kong SAR yesterday, and am starting to feel the jetlag. It was an awesome vacation, though. Hair-wise, the climate is terrific, extremely high humidity, and I also bought a bunch of hairtoys, varying from hairsticks (inc. one in the shape of a dragon, *grin*) to a dozen "frutsels" (not sure what they're called in English; it's those colorful big hairthings you put around the hairtie of a ponytail) to hairnets, hairforks etc. The markets were crazy; never seen so many hair items together in one place. There is such a thing as overdoing it; stall after stall after stall only selling hairtoys. Nuts. All that meant everything was extremely cheap, though. Frutsels are ridiculously expensive here in the Netherlands; in Macau SAR, which I visited one day, a shop sold imported frutsels from Korea for a grand total of $ HK 10, i.e. less than 1 euro a piece. Phew!
Don't really have any hairpics to share from my vacation, although I quite like these two:
Natural blond with natural highlights

Longest-ever: 42.5" (didn't really like it)
Sounds like a great vacation. You are looking good as always!

I measured 3 times and got 3 different measurements. It is hard with curly hair to get a good measurement. The difficult thing is that when I measure and not seeing any progress in inches I get depressed. I feel like I'm getting no where.
Don't worry if your hair doesn't seem to be growing at the rate you want it to. Everybody's hair has its own growth pattern that it follows. Your hair may not grow at all for a few months, and then suddenly, start growing again. I've been growing out my hair for nearly my entire life so, I know a lot about slow periods of hair growth.
I've heard that if you've been using the same shampoo and conditioner for a while that switching to new shampoo and conditioner can help improve the health and length of your hair. But then again, I've also heard that trimming your hair can help it grow, and I'm not really sure about the truth of either statement. Different things work for different types of hair. Just keep it up. Your hair will grow longer before you know it.
I'm at the same length as last month but since I trimmed 1cm in the middle of June that means I got my usual growth.

I was really hoping to have reached my goal, but alas, my goal eludes me! AARRgghh! My ends are so thin though...just like I said in my post to Maria...so instead of waiting until I reach my goal to trim, I am going to trim this month, but only 1/2". I still have enough time before I turn 45 to reach my goal of 44 and I will be happier with my hemline along the way.

I cut back to 36" in March and am at 38" now. The ends look okay, so I think I'll let it just grow for a little while... just as long as I can wear it down when I want.
I have some update pictures in my blog (click on "My Website" - below in my siggie) when I met Elizabeth from LHC last week, if anyone is interested. Today it's the second post down in my blog.

Especially all the kitty photos and news! I have five cats; all adopted from animal shelters or former street cats. We bought a house in the country on some wooded acreage this past April and have slowly converted our indoor only cats to outdoor country cats. They love it and seem happier and healthier than ever. My husband and I spend a lot of time outdoors and they are constantly with us, following us around and wanting to be a part of whatever we're doing. We do call them to come in at night and they've learned to do so. In fact, they've began gathering at about the time they know it's time for Mom to call them inside! Such amazing creatures!
Being in the country like that is so different from being around traffic where we live right now. Your kitties sound great - and HAPPY! Ours want to be outside more, but until we move, they just can't - for their own good. At the farm I'm not sure if we'll let them or not. They will at minimum have their own outdoor space, but roaming through the forest I'm not sure about yet. But maybe!
I'm glad you like my blog!

I measured yesterday and I am at 24 1/4 inches! Of which I am very excited about, since this is usually when I start snipping away. But I have no excuses these days! My last dusting/trim was on the eighth day of June and I decided to grow for the next 18 months, without a dusting even. I want to gain some length, then I will cut it back to where I am hoping the top layers should be... unless they have stopped short.
I've been patting Solana Gold apple cider vinegar on my scalp and letting it soak in for awhile before I wash... what great results thus far! This acv has the "veil of the mother" included which holds more nutrients and enzymes than pasteurized, filtered apple cider vinegar.
I have been using Solana Gold for about three years now as a rinse, but not as often as I should have. I have much more silver than what my photo is showing, I don't think it altering my silver...

I've never heard of that brand of vinegar; will have to check it out. For cooking I use all kinds of wonderful vinegars, but on my hair, I just use the big ol' cheap bottle from Costco. I'm sure it doesn't have the "veil of the mother" (an expression I've not heard before). Maybe I'll check out the kind you use; thanks for mentioning it!

Maybe when your hair is on summer vacation it just "let's its hair down" and grows more. Yeah, that's it.

Okay, please remind me next time I have an urge to cut my hair that when I cut it, I ALWAYS want it to grow back to tailbone or longer!!! UGH!! My hair had been past tailbone, then I cut it to the length it is in my siggy pic. Now I am having the worst time with updos! Even my updos that are usually super easy are a huge challenge because the ends keep sticking out. You would think I would learn, after the millionth time that I have cut my hair and wished I hadn't. So next time, if I write about having the urge to cut it, please just remind me of how many times I have done that and hated it!!! I haven't measured lately, but I know that I am about 3 inches from tailbone. I think that once I grow another inch, the updos will get easier. That inch just seems to be taking forever to get here!

Boy do I know what you mean! I could do any style I wanted on my hair before, but since I cut a few layers it is so hard to do even a simple bun without it sticking out all over. I am so glad I saw your post, because I have been slowly trimming an inch every month or so, but I was thinking of cutting back to waist length and you have made me reconsider. I will try to be patient and keep trimming instead of cutting a bunch at once as I don't want to regret it. Yours will grow back soon and it looks so thick & healthy. Just don't cut layers whatever you do if you wear your hair up a lot. Hang in there!

This is the first post I've done on the Loom in months! I went through a mini "Ugh my hair doesn't grow and it will be BSL forever" slump, and seeing all of the beautiful manes up here slightly depressed rather than encouraged me. So I didn't even measure my hair for months. But the thing is, it finally feel longer! I'm nearly at waist now, and it seems like everybody's telling me how long my hair is. Thanks, Loom, for the great advice, and sometimes just to 'live and let grow' is the best thing we can do.

I'm still chugging along at my usual 1/2" per month. yay for steady growth! My DH says there are some strands that are longer, but I've been doing microtrims to eliminate stragglers, so I've obviously missed some. The majority of my hair is now 32.5 inches.

Sort of new here! I've just been browsing for a while but here I am! I'm up to 28 1/2inches. I'm very excited that my hair is doing so much better; my sister fried my hair so badly three years ago that I had to get a major cut (I love her still though). I've been growing it out and trimming the damage ever since. I've learned so much from these different forums on the internet about the CARE of my locks. I've been very strict in my hair care for about one year now.. And I'm seeing major results! I have less trims because I'm causing less damage now, and my growth rate has increased from my changed diet/vitamin intake. I did a 1/2 inch trim last month, so it could be longer, but I'm happier with it looking heathier! Thanks and happy growth!

Oils: Jojoba. I've tried others (EVOO, coconut, sweet almond), but this is my favorite & my staple now. I use it almost daily. It's also especially useful for putting extra moisture into my hair (esp the ends, which get really coarse) & taming its frizziness after washing.

YAY! I gained half an inch this month! I actually felt like my hair was really long yesterday :D
The things I think have helped the most is the fact that I have completely stopped blow-drying my hair now (for good this time!) and have only been washing twice a week, and I've also been wearing it up more often (at least in a braid).
I can tell a definite improvement in the condition of my hair...it feels silkier and it is a lot shinier, plus it is less tangly! I have also rediscovered my love for Burt's Bees Super Shiny S&C...
For the most part, I'm happy with my hair now! I just wish it wasn't quite so two-toned, haha!
I might take new pics this weekend!

Well, this is the first time I've ever actually measured my hair even though I've been growing it out my entire life. It's actually quite a bit longer than I thought. It measured in at 48". Yep! That's right! FOUR FEET! I'm very pleased.

It is sooo nice to find other women who are as obsessed with long hair as myself :D
I've admired healthy shiny long hair all my life, almost in the way that some women admire large breasts, or being thin - sort of feeling like women with longer hair than me were "better" than me, hehe.
I had medium-long hair all my life until 2003/2004 when I did a Paul Mitchell hair show and they chopped it from bra strap length to chin length!! Since then, I vowed that I would grow it out loooong, no matter what anyone said!
It is now about 5-6 years later, and it's just past bra strap length.
According to my measurements (which is difficult to do by yourself with a stiff tape measure!), my hair is about 26 inches. Making my ideal length about 30 inches, which will probably fall just above waist length on me. Ever since I was little I've measured my hair in "handfuls" - gather it with my hands in a ponytail at the nape of my neck and see how many fists I can put, one underneath the other.. right now I have about 5 1/2 which is the longest I can remember my hair being.
My hair is stick straight, almost Asian/Native American like (I am 25% Cherokee), dark brown with flecks/highlights of red in the sunlight. According to your system, I believe it's 1aCii Fine (I think).
It's pretty shiny and healthy, except I notice a split end or two here and there, and I have some very noticeable (especially in that darn sunlight) grays at both temples. Once in a great while (when I can't take it anymore, or when a stranger points them out!) I'll use a root touchup on just those areas. Other than that, my color is completely natural (not to mention the hair color fades within 2 weeks and my grays are back!). Oh, and I'm only 24!
The longest layer is 26", but I do have some slight layers in the front, and my "bangs" are now pretty grown out, and reach my chin. I usually style my hair down, with the front in a little "poof" to keep my bangs out of my face, and to make my boring hair look a little more "in".
I don't have a shampoo/conditioner routine or preference. I don't use any other type of special products, although looking at all of the stuff you guys do, I'll probably start! For the past few warm months, I've only blowdried my hair about once a week. And I'll use a flat iron and a shine spray maybe once every other week, if I have a date or something special. Other than that, I let it airdry and don't use any products on it. I'm pretty au-naturale in my haircare!
Again, I'm soo glad to have met other women obsessed with long hair! I look forward to learning and sharing much about a common hobby of ours!
xoxo KellyJean
P.S. Not a great picture of my hair, since the light is reflecting and you can only see the true color on the last few inches. I'll get a better one, as well as a more accurate measurement soon. Also, I guess I am due for a trim! Wish I could find a hair salon especially for women with long hair! I can't stand when "just a trim" turns into them taking several inches off! Don't they know it takes FOREVER to grow?? :D
