As I said in another post, I'm in a bad phase of my growth. So I decided some hair toys would help me get through it. I checked the flexi 8 website and they look great. But before buying I wanted to know if there was some flexi 8 users here what you think of them. As for the size I was thinking of getting for me a large one. I also thought it would make a good birthday present for a friend. I think her hair would be shoulder lenght 1a/f/i. So I was thinking for her a mini or extra small. What do you think?

use my large however I do use my extra small for half ups, small for pony tales, and medium for updos regularly. I love them and think they're great. Check out the measurements and size suggestions on their site. I've found that you usually need a size smaller than you think. I've also found that they offer excellent customer service and will exchange something if it's the wrong size.

I have 3 too

A mini, a small, and a medium. I use the mini to pull back a section on the top or side or to to a ponytail on my 2 yearold. The small works great for half ups, braid ups or ponytails and I use the medium for buns or french twists although it's actually gotten a little too small now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them and use them all the time.

Oh, they're awesome

July 7 2009, 10:39 AM

My mom and sister hopped on the band wagon recently - my mom has hair somewhere between tailbone and classic, probably (I don't pay that much attention to her exact length, I just always think of it as long!) and she can make some really sleek looking updos with her natural tapered ends (and she always ends up saying "oh this? I just sort of twirled it up in a hurry!") and an extra large flexi 8.

My sister has hair about shoulder length? Maybe a little shorter? It seems short to me, but it's technically probably "Medium" length hair by most people's standards. Anyway, she loves her flexi-8s too. She uses medium for a ponytail, and extra large for a sort of twisted updo thingie (it works really well since her hair is recently permed and doesn't slip like it used to).

I like the smallest ones (forget the actual name - tiny?) for a tiny little bit of hair clipped on top of my head. I like the "extra small" size for a half-up style. I haven't been able to make a ponytail yet, I'm not sure my hair will make a ponytail, because medium was too big, extra small was too small, but perhaps small will work. Also the extra large ones are good for buns and stuff.

So basically they're good for lots of different hair types and lengths.

Goal: tailbone
Current: waist

Routine:
Detangle thoroughly before washing.
CWC, using a rotation of conditioners and shampoos (not really picky) every 3 days or so.
Comb out thoroughly with a wide tooth plastic comb in shower.
Post wash products: Oil (jojoba, coconut, or sweet almond), Infusium 23 Repairologie leave-in (I put mine in a spray bottle), and a silicone serum.
Oil once or twice between wash days.
Sleep braid every night.

I have 3...

July 8 2009, 1:25 PM

... a mini, a small, and one that is either medium or large (I forgot which size it is). I use the mini only on my 3 yr old DD for half-ups. The small can be for a "half-up" on me (I only put my 'bangs' into it, and they are thin compared to the rest of my hair), or for some styles on my DD. The larger one is only for me. It can hold ponytails and some styles (but some styles won't hold for long with it).

I was maintaining my length around 42 to 43 inches, but the ends stick out of my favorite bun at that length, so I am growing on toward my goal again.

Oils: Virgin Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and sometimes almond oil.
Wash: Aubrey Organics shampoo and conditioner, Indian herbs, CV shampoo bars, or Dairy Whip. Wash approximately once or twice a week. Rinse with raw ACV, and final soak in catnip tea after washing. If hair gets sweaty or dirty between washes I rinse with water alone, or maybe ACV.
Sierra Legacy hardwood comb.
Sleep with hair in a homemade silk satin sleepcap when hair is dry, braided if hair is damp, and loose if hair is wet.

Scalp massage seems beneficial to my hair growth, when I remember to do it regularly.
