For those who asked

A couple of people have contacted me stating that they wanted to view my photos, but did not want to have to join the bun group on yahoo.  Here are 2 new photos I added recently.  I have over 200 photos of updos in my album on yahoo. The only reason I don't have the larger pics on my journal or post them here is because of the size restrictions of Network 54's free program.  I don't know why I didn't think of it before, but here is a link to my album on Photobucket, so you can view the pics there also & not have to join any group on yahoo.

Very, very beautiful.

November 4 2009, 5:08 PM

My favorite of the two is the braided one!

I don't think we have met. I miss a lot of posts since my time is limited and because I am gone most of the time. But I am an oldie, I meant I am a Loomie from way back! But I am old in years too. So I am always catching up and learning who is who...

How long is your length to create these styles?

Yes...

November 7 2009, 12:10 AM

My family has had many health situations that continue to pop up... my Mom's cancer, my brother's broken hand and as a result surgery and rehabilitation. My sister's high risk pregnancy. My Mom's fall (concussion/torn neck ligaments), my Grandpa's more recent bladder surgery (he continues to recover) and my Grandma's Alzheimer's. It's been difficult to find extra time to post. I keep trying as I am able, but many times I'm simply too tired. I keep saying life is calming down and then something else happens, so now I'm just going to post when I can. happy.gif I will try to get a new picture as soon as I am able. My hair has not really thrived under the stressful conditions of the last couple of years, but it's hanging in there.

Wow Lori

November 6 2009, 11:29 AM

Those are amazing! I love the first pic. Does that second updo give you a headache? It just looks like it would because you have so much hair. I can't wear certain updos (like a sock bun) because it seems to give me a headache. I have yet to find a solution for it sad.gif.

Jen - Here's another sock bun picture

November 6 2009, 2:16 PM

The photo you asked about is a very (intentionally) sloppy sock bun with 2 braids criss crossing over it.  It is actually very comfortable.  Here is a picture of another sock bun done much neater:

d.JPG

Instead of making a sock bun the tradional way, I started with the donut at the bottom of my hair and put a 6-8 inch piece through the middle & wrap it around the base.  Then I slowly start rolling the donut (inside out over & over) up the length of my hair while tucking the  length inside until I reach the top and then secure it with a couple of pins.  It is more comfortable and makes a huge bun.   The only time I have headaches from styling is when I make a tall bees butt type bun where all my hair is concentrated on one small area of my head instead of a larger bun that covers more area.

I will have to play around with the sock bun again. Every time I have tried it so far though, I get some major headaches because the bun is so heavy. Your styles are so pretty Lori. You have quite a talent for coming up with new styles!
