advice from around the world (Mara-natural lightening info)

the newest issue of women's health did an article of beauty tips from all over. There were several things pertaining to natural hair treatments.

Italian women use egg white masks to prevent damage and boost shine: whip two egg whites into a frothy mousse, apply to wet hair for 10 minutes and shampoo.

Turkey: For natural highlighting women use daisy water: Boil one cup of daisies in two cups of water for 5 minutes, cool, remove daisies and pour over the hair, allow to air dry.

Philippine women massage aloe juice into their scalp and rinse to make their hair glossy.

In Singapore women leave in coconut oil overnight to keep hair frizz-free (also they smash avocado and leave on their face for 15 minutes for glowing skin)

In Greece women rinse their hair in rosemary water which is supposed to deep clean and remove build-up: boil fresh rosemary in water, cool completely, strain out the rosemary and pour over hair. They also tie scarves tightly around their hair to depuff on a humid day.

My favorite is the daisy water-can't wait to try it!

I really never realized how many natural things you could use to make your tresses healthy and shiny. I'm of the opinion that if it can't hurt you, try it and see if it works for you. happy.gif My parents tend to balk at the idea of using herbs or anything not storebought in your hair or on your skin. I suppose they think it's too much trouble to be worthwhile.

i think

you are right. i think a lot of people feel that natural is not worth while, like we gotten past all that "nonsense" since we have made so many advancements. who said that these were the best thing anyway? i think natural is always better and more trustworthy, not to mention more agreeable with your body, skin, hair which is also natural. why go putting weird processed, chemicals all over it? i hope you explore some of these fun things for yourself! happy.gif

A caution to any light haired women thinking of using rosemary- rosemary darkens hair, so if you want to lighten your hair and still get similar results, try using chamomile tea. (for a highlighting solution- you can mix in some lemon juice too, but not too much!)
The daisy water sounds like it'd be fun to try, and smell really nice too!
