how does one reduce number of bytes on a photo

When I use medium or high resolution on my canon A10 Power Shot, the photos use over 200 bytes. How do I reduce the byte size once a photo is taken. The canon zoom browser software does not seem to allow one to do this.

Best Wishes,

David
