Some of you may already be aware that I am organising a symposium on the 19th and 20th July at the Unicorn Trust, Gloustestershire. here's the info if anyone is interested.
This is a 2 day symposium that will not be advertised to the general public. It is a charitable event for the good of the horse aimed at those who are professionally working as equine behaviourists/trainer/therapists and owners who have open minds, believe in holistic care and positive reinforcement and want to increase their knowledge in these areas.
Equus Insights 2003 will provide information into the
ways in which the multi-facetted network of equine
professionals can work together to support the horse
on physical, mental & emotional levels
By bringing like-minded people together, the symposium
will encourage the forging of strong links between professionals & promote integrated & holistic approaches to create a better life for the horse
The symposium includes speakers such as
Nick Thompson, Holistic Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS)
Ben Hart, The Company of Horses
Christine Barwell, Equine Muscle Release Therapy
Pauhla Whitaker, Reiki Hands On Energy Therapy
Gary Holter, Demeter Grassland Management
Helen Toner, Equine Behaviourist
Balance Saddles
hopefully Jane Berefsord - Barefoot ... etc
Delegates are invited to attend from an equine behaviour or complementary therapy background who believe in the importance of positive reinforcement and holistic well-being for horses
Delegate Fee 100 pounds for both days and light refreshments.
Places on the symposium are limited
To book your place, For further information please contact Davina Stanford at Equine Insights
Telephone 01480 830152
E-mail equineinsights@fsmail.net
I hope now to attend as Mark isn't coming over this year (. How many delegates are you allowing for? I'm checking with my usual companion to these sorts of functions but I'm not sure whether it will be too way out for her, psychologically that is!
Ooh.count me on on this one it looks excellent.
Anyone from the North fancy coming withme in my car?
Fiona, Marie ect
Sam would you be able to leave the little one?
Thanks for all your support in this. Its going to be for a maximum of 60 delegates (with includes all the speakers who are going to attend for the rest of the symposium to!). I still have places and will let you know when I am full up and starting a waiting list (if I get that many). the Natural Horsemanship Mag is going to be there for both days as well with their trade stand.
I hope this will be the first of annual get togethers so the more support we get the better the future of it. I will be evaluating it and everyone will have a chance to input into requests for speakers for next year.
The speakers are nominating a horsey charity each for all the profits to be equally split between & they will not charge for their time and lecture fees. The Mousie Moorland Trust & The Norfolk Horse Resuce Fund will be getting my nomination as the organiser. Also BHS Rescue and the Donkey Sanctury, Devon amongst many more so it will all be for a good cause.
Rach, thanks for your phone call - I have sent an e-mail but if anyone else needs the address to send their fee to hold their place its 100 pounds for both days to be sent to

For me, whether friend comes as well I've yet to find out. I'm really looking forward to it as have decided to spend the money I was going to spend on a treeless saddle in other ways instead!
Hi Dee.I have posted my cheque this morning.I did however put D.stanford on it instead of davina. Will this be okay?
Let me know if it's not and i'll send another.
Much as I would love to attend, it's only a few weeks before my due date so I don't think it would be a good idea (unless any of you are capable of acting as a midwife in an emergency?!). Will there be any kind of report afterwards, Dee? If not I'll just have to rely on Rach and Marie filling me in when they get back!
Really looking forward to it. Dee, do you have a final list of speakers yet?
diane - thanks for the offer and good plan, but I've arranged to stay the night with JanL (Note to self - check this is still ok!!). So I'm going to need my car with me. But depending on where you arrange your accomodation then I could probably drop you off on the way so we could still go together if you don't mind being carless

Assuming my cheque gets in the post before it fills up. Has anyone else got any ideas on where to stay? I will look up B & Bs etc but it would be nice if I could stay at the same place as other delegates!
I will send out Joining Instructions and a list of accommodation available when I recieve your cheque. I haven't heard where people are staying yet and unfortunatley haven't had experience of any of the accommodation in the local area. Personally I'm undecided if I should commute each day or stay over. If i stay I will go for the cheapest option!
I still have place available so if anyone else wants to come come then let me know.
The cheque is in the post, along with permission slip from Keeper at home, ha ha! Catherine, can I wait on that offer? It looks like a couple of others might want to go from Hants. If that's the case I'll be charitable and pick them up, but if they don't go, can I say yes please?
The three of us are booked into South Hill Farm House. We've been there before for Mark Rashid's clinics and it's just round the corner from the long and winding road down to the Unicorn Trust. You could walk it but it's a bit of a jaunt. It's on Smoothound and is very good and cheap - circa £25 B&B per person in double room.
Blimey didn't know I could get so many e-mails in one day! Yes I do have a list of confirmed speakers:-
Nick Thompson - Horses & Homeopethy
Ben Hart - Understanding & working with the applied science of equine behaviour
Chris Barwell - Equine Muscle Release Therapy
Jane Beresford - Barefoot Trimming
Carol Brett - Balance Saddles
Gary Holter - Natural pasture Management
Helen Toner - A 'Bit' unneccessary
If you would like a full programme let me have your postal address, another e-mail address for me is davina@fsmail.net
