Up until I started clicking and using the parelli games my horse never got his willy out in my presence. Now whenever we go out 'to play', there it is, swinging like an elephants trunk.
Now I don't believe for one minute he was far too polite to have got it out before we struck up this more intimate relationship!
So why? It can't be due to relaxation because it's still out when we learning new games/behaviours, or can it!
Well I'm sure there are other more educated people on here that will give you more idea than me but IMHO.....
Using +R creates a more effective learning environment which is predictable. This reduces stress all round even when new tasks are introduced. The horses is learning to learn. He will increase in confidence as they are no longer corrected with unpleasant actions when he dosen't figure out what you want from him. I would imagine this make him feel much more relaxed, so i would say you have hit the nail on the head and it is due to him being relaxed.
Or he could just like your new lipstick!!!!! Hee Hee
Could this be something to do with the brain chemistry? Would need to look it up, but something is running round my head about the way in which clicker training works and the areas of the brain involved, but I may be wrong.......
someone help me please!
Helen
I've found the same thing with my gelding and from reading posts on the clickryder group it seems pretty common and there seems to be a general consensus that it is due to the relaxation that CT brings. But that was opinion rather than proper study from what I understood.
After knowing my gelding for 7 years, the first time I ever saw him become erect was during one of the first CT sessions we did (he's never been one for the girlies...). It's probably a good thing that this hasn't become a habit, especially as I use scratches quite a lot as a reward!
