I've been interested in training one of my horses to help out around the field doing things like pulling a contraption to move a hay bale or two about or to pull a bigger-than-a-wheelbarrow thing around for poo-picking.
I know a retired vet who is heavily involved with the Heavy Horse Society and has retired Percherons and other horses at his farm.
We are looking into running a day's workshop for teaching us what we'd need, where to get it from, how we introduce it to our horses etc; with practical help from his horses.
This would be in late August or September.
The money would go to the equine charity TAWS (www.taws.org) and it would be in Chertsey, Surrey (junct 11, M25). I don't know how much we'd charge yet, depends on how many people etc.
It would be handy if I could have a vague idea if anyone would be interested in coming......
PS If I did decide to introduce my horses to this sort of thing I'd personally use positive reinforcement and clicker training but that wouldn't be covered by the vet in this workshop.
