Hi
Catherine, can we have a locked thread about inspirational non-horsey books? Maybe on the same line as the reading lists?

Just that books like the few listed below that help you to take stock of things/provide inspiration/say 'for god's sake, just get on with it, that's hardly a real problem' do have a role in making us better trainers and I need some recommendations for more!

Examples:

Touching the void - Joe Simpson
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Touching-Void-Joe-Simpson/dp/0099771012/sr=8-2/qid=1158614306/ref=pd_ka_2/202-8267353-0147014?ie=UTF8&s=gateway

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - JD Bauby
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Diving-bell-Butterfly-Jean-Dominique-Bauby/dp/0007139845/sr=8-1/qid=1158614364/ref=pd_ka_1/202-8267353-0147014?ie=UTF8&s=gateway

Tuesdays with Morrie - Mitch Albom
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/202-8267353-0147014?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tuesdays+with+morrie

Life and Limb - Jamie Andrew
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Life-Limb-Jamie-Andrew/dp/0749950528/sr=8-1/qid=1158614427/ref=sr_1_1/202-8267353-0147014?ie=UTF8&s=gateway

Endurance - Alfred Lansing
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Endurance-Shackleton-Incredible-Voyage-Antarctic/dp/029782919X/sr=8-1/qid=1158614465/ref=sr_1_1/202-8267353-0147014?ie=UTF8&s=gateway

Sure I'll think of more but these are some of my favourites so sprung to mind first.

Hi Suz

We could certainly have a new thread for non-horsey recommended reading. But there are already non-horsey books listed on the normal recommended reading thread. So maybe it would be easier to keep track of them if we just kept them all on the same thread.

I'm not really bothered either way - either add them to the normal thread or let me know if you still want this one fixed as well.

And thanks for all the suggestions - I've not read Touching the Void. Saw the film with a bunch of people I go climbing with. Bit like when I watched The Dish with a bunch of astronomers and we all waited for the credits to see who we knew was involved. Blush... Some things are better kept quiet about!

Catherine
