Please could someone recommend the best type of AV gel to buy. I guess an orgnaic plant would be best but in the absence of finding one of them (or are they available somewhere??).....
I've used Forever Living in the past (with lots of success - got it through vet for Jak's huge wound and it was all covered by my insurance!) and they make a lot of claims about being top quality - is it? There are also various organic brands at the local health food shop - how do they normally compare? Or is there anything else that is easily available and has a reasonable shelf-life?
Jak's got a poorly bottom again (gone scabby and itchy around his anus, coinciding with being due for worming. Have wormed him but still not sure if that's a red-herring or not.....) and I've just about run out of gel... Have treated myself to digital camera - ha ha, guess what my first photos are of?!!! Not sure if I should post them or not!
I don't know in comparative terms how good or bad it is, because it's the only one I've ever used, but the Holland and Barrett one comes in a handy pump dispenser and has worked on cuts, grazes and sweet itch scabs. They often have it on special offer too.
The best one I've come across is by equigold it has much higher percentage of aloe vera in it (I think it's about 30% ish?) compared with Forever Living which is about 10%.
That's great, thanks for your replies. Lucy, do you have a link for Equigold, or even a link to a supplier as I can't find anything googling?
Now I'm a bit confused - I was under the impression that Forever Living claimed 100% purity. Is that just dodgy marketing talk and really it's 100% stabilized but with added water?
It is a bit misleading isn't it! Yes the aloe vera is 100% pure but it's not 100% aloe vera if that makes sense...?
Can't find the bloomin website! But try www.equushealth.org.uk they have local reps and it's one of their recommended products. Also it would have helped if I'd given you the correct name...Equiloe Gold! Heavy sigh...just can't get the staff these days!

Fab, thanks Lucy, you're a star. Have found it now and apparently my local feed shop actually stocks it. Hurrah! Might try the feed supplement as well to see if having an internal boost helps him along as well. [Note to self: buy the small-size one even though it's more expensive as the fussy bugger probably won't eat it anyway....]
