I found this amusing - was in the doctor's surgery recently and the waiting room was a bit busy. There was a man there with his son of about 8ish and the kid was getting bored and a bit hyper. Father kept asking him very patiently to come and sit down, kid was bouncing around and trying to wind up father. It was a moment of threat, punishment and/or extinction burst and I'm sure I wasn't alone in wondering what was going to come next. Eventually father cracked and with a hint of desperation he said "do you want a hair-wash tonight?" To which the kid shut up and sat down immediately!
Must try that one with Sam some time....
