For example, do you want a Ficarre and can't find one where you are?
If we all post our wishes, perhaps we can get our cast-offs into the hands of those who really want them, or even assist in connecting our hair tribe with the objects of their desire.
My own list:
Plain bun snood of dark silk or metallic thread, no barrette or clips.
Fine hair net long enough to capture all my hair for updo's.

Ficarre. Have never seen them anywhere here, no idea where to start looking. I know they are available mail order but..shipping to the UK is soooooooooo expensive. I don't know what kinds of stores would be like Nordstroms or anywhere like that.
Too too many wonderful hairsticks (Maidens Treasures, Dressy Tresses...lots of other places) again...cost and shipping.
Bun covers from Argus, and all those other places....same reason!! Plus, not really sure about ordering bits like that mail order when I'm not sure how big they really are. I like to feel things and feel how sturdy etc. they are.
I need to frequent more craft fairs and the like, to see what people are making by hand over here and stop whinging.
Biggest wish: for natural, affordable hair products that are MADE IN THE UK!! giggles I just want... things to be more readily available here. I need to order from Neil at L&N, some of his things look yummy. So many things become prohibitively expensive unfortunately. I am looking forward very much to getting my barrettes from Madeleine. My friend is even buying me one of those.
Basically.
Wish: Everything
Problem: No cash.
I need another job to support my hair toy problem.

I am just learning that we are lucky indeed in the US about these toys.
Here's a Ficcare (oh look, I CAN spell it!) link that's in the UK - http://henrysbrownboxes.com/ficcare_home.htm
As for the Argus, Omigod, they are expensive but absolutely gorgeous and totally worth it. Let me know if I can help answer any questions you have about their stuff. I have a large hairchitecture and I ordered a barrette but gave it away due to the spring mechanism. Still, it was stunning.
This poll should be so much fun!

I'm with Bees - we see all these wonderful products and toys here, and either the site doesn't ship internationally, or they charge so much for shipping outside the US that those of us on budgets simply cannot afford anything And even if we do save our pennies and order from the US, we end up paying customs and import tax on top when our goodies arrive. Of course, we are also at the mercy of exchange rate too.
Fortunately several of the wonderful people here have bought things for me and sent them over for me You don't pay tax on gifts, and shipping is often a lot less if sent by a person making no profit rather than by a company. This is how I have got AO, Fake-arres, plastic bun pins, and Ric and horn combs in the past.
My wishlist would be:
Maiden's treasures hairsticks.
Aubrey organics (well-stocked atm, but a girl can never have too much shampoo).
Cheaper GM products and salon visits - I'm desperate for a one horu treatment and trim.
Ficarres.

1) Ability to make elegant, non-frumpy updos.
At this point, I lack the talent and creativity needed for updos. What's holding me back is, in part, the fact that I don't just practice, practice, practice updos... but also that I don't have cool ideas about what to do with all this hair.
2) Trip to GM salon.
There just isn't one where I live, and since it's an island, I can't drive to the nearest one.
3) Ficcare hair clip
Just can't find stores that carry them, and so far I'm resistant to buying one online where I can't test it out.
And... since this is a wishlist and wishlists don't have to be realistic:
4) My own personal hairstylist, to do awesome fancy braiding for me and other nifty styles. (Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?)

I go to the GM salon in Beverly Hills. Jessie is the owner. I remember her talking about clients from Hawaii, but can't remember if she flies there or if they fly to her. I do know she flies to San Fransisco once per month (or so) to work on clients there, so perhaps you should call her to see if she does go to Hawaii too. I know she is flexible.
Here's the info for Jessie:

I'm not sure what island you're on, Dancingbarefoot, but if it's Oahu, I was there a couple weeks ago and saw some on sale at the Ala Moana Center. It was a salon on the ground level of the mall over by the Old Navy. Of course I don't remember the name! There is also a really neat store called "Bella a Bella", also on the ground floor of Ala Moana Center, and they have some really gorgeous hair accessories- jeweled hair forks, hair sticks etc..
Again, not sure if you're on Oahu, but if you are I hope this helps!

I'm going to have to check it out at the earliest opportunity!
I've seen the ones at Bella a Bella (isn't that the store across from where Iida's used to be on the mauka side of the mall?). They are stunning, but with all the jewels on the clips, I'm thinking they might get caught in my hair.
More importantly.... YOU LIVE IN HAWAI'I?? Or were you on vacation? So far I'm the only one I know about who lives here, but I've been looking. That would be cool!!
Thanks!

..but I had a couple of weekends that were like vacations! The salon I mentioned- if you are outside of Old Navy in the parking garage, looking at Old Navy, then turn right and it is a few shops down. When I was there, I think she had them on sale for 75% off and had a great selection. They were on display in the window. But I had already spent so much at Bella a Bella, that I passed them up. LOL! Good luck!!

for my hair to be classic length already!!! (since it's currently 3 inches shy of bra strap)...but I'll just have to wait for that one to come true!!
Ok my wishlist would be just a couple of items:
1. Long Locks Hairsticks!!! wow! they are so pretty!! but I do not have the money
2. GM 12 minute conditioner...although I might actually spring for this one, but I really do want to try it first before buying a whole container of it...
That's about it, really...

is pretty short at the moment. I haven't caught the hairtoy bug just yet as I think my hair looks its best down... although I am finally getting the hang of hairsticks and like to do a bun every now and again. I want to buy or make some pretty ones, but not until I'm confident of my ability to consistently get a good, tight bun to keep the stick from falling out. I'm using a cheap plastic tortoise-shell stick at the moment so if I lose it it won't be a huge tragedy or anything.
My BIG hair wish is a trip to a GM salon... I just LOVE the gloss and shine of the "after GM" pics I've seen on the board! But we don't have one in this area, and I can't really afford it right now anyway. However, I'm going home to Ohio sometime this summer, and I hope to be able to visit the Cleveland salon then.
Anyone here ever been to that one?

I'd love to get another pair of custom Maiden's Treasures sticks. Just received my first pair that I am very happy with. Now I'm trying to hold myself back for a little longer because there are so many other "great but not really essential" things I'd like to get as well (not only hair related).
A shiny silver Ficcare Millennium in medium size. I have a fake innovation that I love, but that sort of clip is so common around here that I'd like to get something that looks a bit different. I can't buy any real Ficcares in Germany and Ficcare doesn't ship internationally, so I'll wait and hope that at some point a group order may happen here that I could join. I'm not really in a hurry with that though, it's not as if I needed another clip.
A few two and/or three prong hair forks in different sizes made from exotic wood. Those are really high on my list! I have never seen anything like that locally, and I'm not really good at ebay bidding, but Tresses recent mention of Blondiesturn's hair forks has been a big help. I contacted the seller and she may be able to make exactly what I want as a custom order. I'm so happy!
I'd also really like to meet a professional braider to get a fancy crown braid done. I even dreamed about that last night! In my dream a stylist made the prettiest updo for me, something like a crown braid with a bun inside and some ponytail hanging down too, adorned with light and dark purple silk flowers. Even in my dream I knew that I don't have enough hair for this, so the stylist used several hair pieces and rats And she didn't tease my hair or pulled at it or anything, it was a completely hair friendly, positive experience
But alas I have no idea if there are any braiders in Germany at all and if so I wouldn't know how to find them. I definitely don't want to get myself into the hands of a "pro" that would tease and spray my hair to death.
Axium, regarding plain metallic thread bun covers - I've seen those around here, silver or gold thread in a fishnet style, with an elastic opening. They were too big for my own pathetic bun, but in case you're interested I could check size and prices and send you one (they'd easily fit into a simple letter envoope, so it wouldn't be much postage).
Just let me know.
Cheers,
Madeleine

In fact, could you email me the details? I'll be away from Tuesday on this week for a work trip, and if the post gets buried, well, it would just be great to open my email and have your info right there.
BTW, I loved hearing about your dream. So practical and detailed, too! There is a service that does this, you know, they travel if you pay. I have that website address somewhere if you want it, I just posted it on the main board to Danni regarding her wedding post...

Just send me a quick note by clicking on my name so I have your e-mail address.
Give me a few days - but it won't be too long as I need stuff from that shop anyway.
Regarding Crowning Glory Braids - I've seen and admired their web site, but I don't think I'd want to pay for their travel expenses to Europe
Cheers,
Madeleine

I wish for ten plastic extra long hair pins
like these, only bigger:
I wish for medium sized claws in adult
themes and not third grade colors all the time.
Jeweled, cloisonne, etc. instead of
the same old boring plastic.
I wish for a long hair specialty store
close by, one that extends credit. grin

The first thing I would wish for is a trip to a real long hair salon, a GM one or Enchantress in Ohio. I want the treatment, trim and a bag of goodies. Tonight Martine and RBR have posted links on the other board about some lovely hair goodies. I want that turquoise hair fork! and one of those silver ponytail cuffs. What a cool thing.
And after Betty's post tonight with the Long and Silky links I would love to have some of that again. I would love to see if I would still like it.

Lots more stuff from Bronze Jewelers. I want a metal snood like Martine's (but in a lotus pattern, I think), a celtic slide barrette, maybe a small-size scroll clip barrette to see if that would hold my ponytail.
Lots of small things from Argus: Some of the wooden hairsticks, a Hairchitechture, Titanium hair spikes, that sort of thing.
A resin-impregnated specialty wooden hair fork. Also some specialty-wood hair sticks.
Many smooth acrylic hair forks, sticks, and especially a French Twist comb (from someplace like France-Lux, for example.)
I could go one and on, of course.
What's holding me back? That a lot of money to spend on hair stuff! Also, at least in the case of the specialty-wood stuff, I want to have a go at making it myself, first.
Skills? To be able to easily make a double French Braid (by which I mean, one down each side of my head). Also to be able to do a crown braid on myself. (Would that by the perfect scuba hairstyle or what?)

Let's see...
-First, I really want to get some of those Good Hair Days Hairpins.
-I love the Silver hair slides from Denmark...and a ponytail clasp for them would be awesome on my husbands dark hair.
-Someone just posted above about the jeweled barrettes at Byrd. Gorgeous! (See what I mean about reading the posts here.)
-I wish for time and energy in the evening hours to sew or crochet some scrunchies...I can't believe I have never tried scrunchies.
-I would also like to try the Morroco Method or SARA care products.

Here is my wish list:
~an exact clone of my blessed steel hair stick from Express circa 1995
~turned titanium hairsticks from Argus
~more more more Mei Fa's
~someone to thoroughly brush my hair in the sunshine every single day for about 30 minutes (just don't tell my husband!)
~GM hair treatment-- Although i'm in SC, Atlanta is my home town, where Brent Jones at Farlow Salon is located, but I don't know any other longhairs except my mom, who has never been to a salon or spa and has been rigorously trained not to pamper herself. I want to go, but not alone-- lots of the beauty in it is sharing the joy, ya know?
~12 more inches of hair, instantaneously!

Natural shampoos but there is a problem with that, how many people claim to have natural shampoos on the internet and it turns out they really aren't all that natural.
And oils! I wanted to get some black currant oil, and some others. my setback is basically money.
I wanted to get Thyme, ginger, and sage oils but that also has the money problem
Herbs to make rinses with, but the set back is I can't remember which ones were good for hair, and another thing is that I perfer them fresh but have no time to use them fresh. My yucca root went bad since I didn't use it right away aww.

What's holding me back? A dollhouse I need to finish and the $$$ to buy the wood without worrying about wasting it learning how. I have come up with a plan using naturally killed (died and fell over) wood from the back of dad's property. It's Paper Birch and Qakin Aspen, which are listed as moderatly hardwoods. I dunno. Most of it's the fear of failure
