Marguerite hung on every word

Response to The first ...

Marguerite hung on every word Felippe uttered, she was eager to learn what had transpired in Orreaga this day, and how the scene would be expected to play out? Her face lit up at the news that the final blow would come with the morning light. Freedom was so near at hand, she could almost taste the glory of it. With her mother safe in her own home, Marguerite was most willing to do her best to aid their efforts.

Yet the thought of the festivities that Felippe had mentioned gave her pause. She was not prepared to face the condemnation of her fellow townspeople, and had no intention to attend. The tight group of patriots whom she had worked with so closely, did not blame her, but to the rest she was nothing but the enemy commander's whore. She feared what she would read in their eyes, the peace within her was still too fragile for such a test.

Yet the foremost question on her mind had to be spoken. "Has there been any news from the Lord Paul and his Lady? A great deal of time has elapsed since they entered the bowels of the earth to find a way into the citadel. I fear for their safety."
