It seemed to Lisa as if the blinds had parted and allowed a stream of bright sunlight to illuminate the scene. She could not understand why she had not known instantly that this was the landscape she had seen in recurring dreams ever since childhood. Many a night had she spent playing in those waters and walking among the glade of trees. And Beathan .... her dawning knowledge was interrupted by the man's words.
"Come with me."
Without hesitation she took the proffered hand and found herself drawn towards the waterfall at the end of the little loch. Stepping into the water, Beathan lifted her and gave her a push into the opening behind the falling waters. Lisa found herself within a tunnel, but even here it seemed familiar and she pressed on without having to be encouraged.
When light from the other end became a strong beacon to follow, she soon stepped out into a landscape of wild and extraordinary beauty. "We are not in Kansas anymore, nor in Scotland, I bet?" She turned to face Beathan, intrigued by all she saw. "Is this the Avalon that Carol spoke of?" Puzzlement furled her brow as her thought progressed.
"Why did Carol have to make her dangerous journey, if you knew how to enter this place?" She asked accusingly. |
