Thing about Boughner is that he has an excellent situation in Windsor right now. They just won the Memorial Cup, and almost the entire core of that team is expected back next year, so their chance of being able to be in Brandon next year for a run at the very rare back-to-back Memorial Cup feat is quite good. They also have a commitment for next year from Cam Fowler, maybe the best '92 defenceman in the United States, which is only going to help strengthen their team for next year if he can play for them the way top '91s like Ellis and Hall did for them this year.
And then there's the rumour that Windsor plans to bid to host the Memorial Cup when it comes back to the OHL in 2011. If they won the OHL again next year and then got the tournament in 2011, that could potentially make three straight trips to the Memorial Cup for the Spitfires. So by just waiting two more years, Boughner could potentially get his name into some pretty elite coaching company as far as Memorial Cup success goes.
If I were him, I wouldn't trade that for an NHL assistants job....
