2009 Memorial Cup Day 3

by

With toys in hand the Hanson's headed to the tent after the game for many more photo ops and a little bit of dancing with some of the local gals. Also a return to the Molson tent for some cheaper beer and chit chat with the Molson reps and the other VIP's in the tent. It was a cold rainy night which was not good for the Hanson's and after a bit of brotherly spat the gang headed back to the hotel to get ready for Day 3.

Day 3 saw the annual JHJ Memorial Cup Elvis appearance. For those who don't know the significance of Elvis day here it is in a nutshell. For every Memorial Cup that Bubba attends, and this was his 10th consecutive Memorial Cup, he buys the jersey of the host team and the name bar is "MEMORIAL CUP" and the number is the last two digits of that year. He brings all of his jerseys with him and at one designated game he gives a jersey to one of the JHJ Memorial Cup veterans for them to wear. They also don the Elvis wigs and glasses. This year we had the 10 Memorial Cup jerseys plus Bubba's Hockey Hall Of Fame jersey. As Bubba's jerseys are way too big for the new Skinny Santa Bubba managed to find me a rather styling white leisure suit to go along with my 1969 Las Vegas style pimp hat. I guess I am now Elvis's manager Colonel Tom, but I think most people thought I was Colonel Sander's from Kentucky fried Chicken fame. There is usually one additional Elvis for the annual photo op and that is CHL commissioner David Branch, but unfortunatley he was under the weather that day and sent his apologies that he would have to miss the opportunity. Don't worry Dave we will bring you your wig next year in Brandon.
