Jung Yu Jin(Janice) is an outgoing, cheerful and popular 18-year-old girl at a high school in Chuan Chun. Her father Jung Xin Zhou has passed away, and she and her younger sister is raised with their mother.


Yu Jin's family is close to Kim Sang Hyuk's(Raymond's) family, and Yu Jin and Sang Hyuk grew up together. Sang Hyuk is an obedient student who is well-liked by classmates. He has been admiring Yu Jin all along.


One day, Yu Jin and Sang Hyuk were late for school. Yu Jin managed to squeeze into the bus by herself, and fell asleep on the bus on the shoulder of Kang Joon Sang(Joon). Joon Sang is a quiet, talented student who has transferred to the school in Chuan Chun where Yu Jin studies, and he is there to look for his father.


Joon Sang identified Kim Zhen Yu, a Mathematics Professor, as the person he is looking for. Zhen Yu is Sang Hyuk’s father. Joon Sang is hostile towards Sang Hyuk, and tried to compete with Sang Hyuk in every way...


Wu Choi Lim, who is in the same class as Yu Jin, is interested in Joon Sang. She made an open declaration that Joon Sang belonged to her.


Joon Sang slipped into the University to attended Zhen Yu’s Mathematics lecture. The latter was duly impressed with Joon Sang's talent. Zhen Yu invited Joon Sang to go to his office to discuss mathematical problems with him after school regularly.


At home, Joon Sang's mother, Kang Mei Xi (who was a pianist), asked why him wanted to be transferred to that school, and brought up the topic of Joon Sang's father. Mei Xi told Joon Sang that his father was dead, and he should go to US with her after her concerts ended.


Yu Jin and Joon Sang were late for school again. In order to avoid the fierce teacher who was guarding the front door, Yu Jin suggested that they could help each other to sneak into the school, via climbing over the wall. Joon Sang helped her up the wall and jumped over from the other side by himself easily. Yu Jin, who was left sitting on the wall, panicked and begged Joon Sang to help her down...


Joon Sang was supposed to co-host the lunchtime broadcast session with Yu Jin. Instead, he was relaxing at the rooftop, under the sun. Yu Jin was not happy and broadcasted to the whole school that she had an irresponsible partner... When Joon Sang went to the broadcast room, through the half-opened door, he caught the sight of Yu Jin dancing to the music of Abba, and was fascinated.


In the music room, the music teacher was testing each student's piano skill. Joon Sang sat at the piano, not playing. Yu Jin explained to the teacher that Joon Sang was a newly transferred student (whom might not know the test).


In the evening, Yu Jin went to the market to see her mother who sells clothing there. On the way home, she was molested by a drunk. Joon Sang passed by, got into a fight when tried to rescue her. Both of them were taken to the police station. There, Joon Sang realised that Yu Jin's father, Xin Zhou, is already dead. When she asked about his father, Joon Sang replied that he did not have one too.


The next day, both were teased by fellow classmates as they were with band-aids. In order to thank him, Yu Jin volunteered to teach Joon Sang how to play the piano, without realising that Joon Sang can actually play very well. At the music room, Joon Sang played a piece of music titled "the first time". While Yu Jin was fiddling with the piano key, Joon Sang saw from the window that Sang Hyuk was looking around for Yu Jin. Joon Sang decided to take Yu Jin out of the school. They took a bus to the lake and spent the afternoon there. In the evening, when Yu Jin returned home with Joon Sang, she found Sang Hyuk with her school bag, standing in front of her house.

The next day, Yu Jin and Joon Sang were disciplined by the teacher for playing truant. The teacher asked whether it was Joon Sang who took Yu Jin out. Yu Jin defended that she has gone out by her freewill. Both of them were ordered to clear the fallen leaves in the yard for one month as punishment.


Joon Sang went to see Zhen Yu in his office. The latter talked about his son Sang Hyuk, and Joon Sang is disappointed that he did not remember he has another son...


In the broadcast room, Joon Sang brought a LP with the track "the first time". Yu Jin told him that it was the first time she skipped class, the first time on a bicycle... Then, Joon Sang asked if she agreed to join him for a movie on Saturday. He told her that it was his first time asking a girl for a date too.


On tailing Joon Sang, Sang Hyuk found that Joon Sang was seeing Zhen Yu. The next day, Sang Hyuk confronted Joon Sang. Joon Sang told him that Sang Hyuk had too much that he wanted... Sang Hyuk asked Joon Sang whether this is the reason why he approached Yu Jin. Yu Jin came in while they were arguing. Yu Jin misunderstood Joon Sang’s words, and stormed off....


Sang Hyuk(Raymond), Yu Jin(Janice), Joon Sang(Joon), Choi Lim(Charlene)and some other classmates went to a mountain chalet for Christmas camping. In the dark, Yu Jin got lost in the woods. Eventually, she was found by Joon Sang. Joon Sang revealed that he has been true to her. Joon Sang told Yu Jin, "That next time you are lost, you should look for Polaris as the location of this Stellan will never change", and they made up.

The next day, Sang Hyuk reminded Yu Jin that she should not be used by Joon Sang. Yu Jin told Sang Hyuk that she liked Joon Sang.


While cleaning the yard, Yu Jin told Joon Sang what she did last winter. Joon Sang told her that when the first snow fall this year, he would have a date with someone at the lake... On the first snowing day of the year, Joon Sang met Yu Jin at the lake and had a great time. They had their first kiss there.


After the excursion by the lake, Yu Jin took Joon Sang home. At the door, Yu Jin gave Joon Sang her gloves and asked him to return them to her on New Years' Eve. Later, she invited him to dine in her house. When she was cooking, Joon Sang saw a picture and was led to believe that Xin Zhou might be his father. Joon Sang left Yu Jin's house in a hurry without saying goodbye. He went to ask Zhen Yu, who told him that Mei Xi was in love with Xin Zhou... Heartbroken, Joon Sang decided to go to US with his mum. Half-way in the car, he suddenly remembered about the date with Yu Jin. Joon Sang tried to make his way there but was hit by a track... Yu Jin waited in vain, in the snow, for a long time …

Next day, on the way to school, Yu Jin was thinking of what she should say to Joon Sang about him missing their date. When she heard that Joon Sang was killed in a traffic accident, she could not accept it. By the lake, the classmates burnt paper offerings for Joon Sang, and Choi Lim accused Yu Jin for causing Joon Sang's death...


Back home, Yu Jin received a belated Christmas present from Joon Sang. It was a cassette tape containing "the first time", played and recorded by Joon Sang himself… She broke down and cried...


Ten years later, Yu Jin opened a renovation company called Polaris, while Sang Hyuk worked at the radio station. Zhen Suk was jobless and stayed with Yu Jin. Lung Kok became a veterian.


Polaris was involved in a ski field project with a company called Marcian. Yu Jin visited Marcian when they were moving into the new office premises. She picked up a piece of puzzle on her way out.


Later that evening, on the way to her engagement ceremony, Yu Jin saw a man who looks just like Joon Sang. Unconsciously, she followed him around, and forgot to attend her engagement ceremony. Everyone was waiting and Sang Hyuk's mum was very upset. Eventually, the exhausted Yu Jin turned up at the engagement venue but fainted in front of her family and friends...


The next day, Yu Jin went to Sang Hyuk's house to apologize but his mum was still upset. However, Sang Hyuk was very understanding, and did not even asked what happened. Yu Jin went home and listened to the tape left by Joon Sang 10 years ago. She started scribbling something on a piece of paper...


With the engagement ring, Sang Hyuk went to Yu Jin's home. Yu Jin was not around but Sang Hyuk saw her scribbled notes, saying that she has not forgotten Joon Sang and whether she was in a dream seeing him alive and walking on the road... Later, Sang Hyuk found Yu Jin in a park. He told her that she should have told him and he will wait with her...


Choi Lim sent an email to the old classmates, telling them she is back from France...


Lung Kok and Zhen Suk decided to help Sang Hyuk and Joon Yin to complete their engagement ceremony. Sang Hyuk drove Joon Yin back to the high school. At the courtyard, he put on the ring for her.... At the celebration party in the broadcast room, Choi Lim showed up and told everyone that she has opened a boutique. While they were talking, a man who looked exactly like Joon Sang showed up. Everyone was shocked when Choi Lim(Charlene) introduced him as Lee Min Yeong(Joseph), her boyfriend.


Next day, Yu Jin went to Marcian. In the manager's office, she found a puzzle with a "hole", i.e., a missing piece. She removed the piece if puzzle she picked the other day from her pocket … fitted it in the "hole" … then, Lee Min Yeong appeared at the door, with the most brilliant smile...

Yu Jin went to meet her client at Marcian. In the Director's office, she found that there was a missing piece in a large jigsaw puzzle. She took out the piece of jigsaw puzzle that she has picked up from the staircase earlier and fitted it into the "hole". At this point, the door opened. Yu Jin turned around and was stunned by the sight of a cheerful Man Yeong. He walked into the room and introduced himself as her new client. Yu Jin was very confused with the remarkable resemblance of Man Yeong to Joon Sang, and kept staring at him. Jokingly, Man Yeong asked if that it is her habit to look at people like that....

Yu Jin came out of Man Yeong's office in tears. Immediately, she went to see Choi Lim about Man Yeong. Choi Lim told her that Man Yeong and Joon Sang were not related.


Yu Jin tried to avoid seeing Man Yeong. However, it became unavoidable as Man Yeong insisted that Yu Jin be the officer in charge of his project.... One day, Man Yeong brought Yu Jin to the ski field to discuss about the project. Tracing Man Yeong's footsteps the snow, Yu Jin had flash backs and compared Man Yeong with the deceased Joon Sang... Yu Jin's mobile phone rang, and it was Sang Hyuk.Over the phone, Yu Jin lied that she was with her senior at the ski field.


In the evening, Man Yeong and Yu Jin went to an empty house in the ski field. Around the fireplace, Man Yeong joked that this was the first time he met a girl who was not interested in him. Yu Jin had flashbacks about Joon Sang again, and started asking Man Yeong about his past, and whether he had any prior memory of Korea. Man Yeong was curious about her questions, but Yu Jin’s explanations were interrupted by Choi Lim’s arrival.


At Lung Kok's place, Sang Hyuk met Yu Jin's senior and found out that Yu Jin lied to him...


At dinner, Man Yeong asked Choi Lim about Yu Jin. Choi Lim told Man Yeong that Yu Jin was pretending to be a nice girl in front of him to attract his attention.


Sang Hyuk went to see Yu Jin, asking her out for the next day... Next day, they met, tried to go for a movie but found that tickets have been sold out everywhere... Sang Hyuk apologized to Yu Jin that he has not been able to make her happy and promised to try harder. On the way back home, Sang Hyuk asked if she was hiding anything from him but Yu Jin denied.


Later, Yu Jin found out from her senior that Sang Hyuk knew about her lies. She planned to explain to Sang Hyuk over dinner. Their conversation was overheard by Choi Lim... At dinner, before Yu Jin could explain, Choi Lim came in with Man Yeong, telling Sang Hyuk that Man Yeong was working with Yu Jin ...

Choi Lim took Man Yeong to the restaurant where Yu Jin and Sang Hyuk were dining. Choi Lim told Sang Hyuk that Man Yeong was working with Yu Jin. That caused some unhappiness between Yu Jin and Sang Hyuk.

On the way home, Choi Lim told Man Yeong that Yu Jin liked to follow whatever she did: getting the same shoes, same dress, and pursuing the same man... At the same time, Sang Hyuk was upset that Yu Jin has lied to him. In the car, Yu Jin confessed to Sang Hyuk that the sight of Man Yeong reminded her of Joon Sang. After some discussions, Sang Hyuk encouraged her to continue working on the project so that she could convince herself that Man Yeong was not Joon Sang... Choi Lim was shocked to hear that Sang Hyuk let Yu Jin to continue working with Man Yeong.

Choi Lim offered Zhen Suk a job in her boutique. In the evening, Zhen Suk invited her old classmate for a celebration. She got drunk and started telling Yu Jin that she should not be working with Man Yeong on the skiing field project as it was like playing with fire...

Marcian was organizing the company’s opening ceremony. Choi Lim deliberately gave Zhen Suk a copy of the evening dress that Man Yeong has chosen for her. Zhen Suk innocently gave Yu Jin the dress and lent her a pair of matching high-heeled shoes... Yu Jin turned up at the party, wearing the same dress as Choi Lim... Choi Lim pretended to be unwell and left early. She told Man Yeong that at some stage, Yu Jin might tell him that he looked like her first love...


Man Yeong found that Yu Jin has been taking photos of him. While all Yu Jin's actions seemed to confirm Choi Lim’s statements, Man Yeong was confused as this was not the Yu Jin he perceived..

Man Yeong asked his senior to join him for a drink. At the pub, they met Yu Jin and her colleagues, and ended up drinking together. The question of first love came up. Man Yeong said he could not remember...Yu Jin did not want to talk about hers...Man Yeong commented that might be she has too many affairs and thus could not remember. The provoked Yu Jin started drinking. Half-drunk, she started asking Man Yeong questions... "what is your favourite colour"..."what is your favorite season?"... probing whether he could be Joon Sang … and eventually, telling Man Yeong that he looked that her first love.


Everyone else left... Yu Jin got drunk. Not knowing where she lived, Man Yeong took her back to his hotel room and put her on the sofa. After a while, Yu Jin woke up. She saw a Man Yeong without glasses, thought he was Joon Sang, and kept calling him Joon Sang, Joon Sang...

Yu Jin mistook Man Yeong as Joon Sang when she was drunk and confessed to "him" that she missed him so much... Remembering Choi Lim's comment about Yu Jin, Man Yeong played along initially to toy her feelings but at the end, used some harsh words on her. Yu Jin dashed out of Man Yeong's apartment in pain and tears...


The next day, Yu Jin apologized to Man Yeong for mistaking him as another person while she was drunk. Man Yeong asked whether she was sure, as she looked serious and did not look drunk. Yu Jin was unhappy that she was accused for pretending to be drunk. She told him that she was engaged and Choi Lim was her good friend. She mentioned that she was only interested in maintaining their working relationship, and nothing more.


At home, Yu Jin confessed that to Zhen Suk that the more she tried to forget Joon Sang, the more unforgettable he became. Hence, she decided to bring up stories about Joon Sang once in while so that she could forget about him completely. She felt that she was in debt to Sang Hyuk and dared not talk about Joon Sang in front of him. Yu Jin asked if Zhen Suk was willing to listen to her story about Joon Sang and Zhen Suk agreed.


Choi Lim found out that Yu Jin has told Man Yeong that he looked like her first love. She told Man Yeong that she did not want to see Yu Jin getting close to the man she loved. When Man Yeong went into his room to change, Choi Lim found Yu Jin's notebook on the floor, indicating that she has been in his hotel room.


At the ski field restaurant, Man Yeong picked the "Wheel of fortune" Tarot card three times in a row. This card suggested that the person he was destined to be with was getting closer and closer to him. The girl who held the same card would be his destined one. Casually, he told that Yu Jin's senior that he heard Yu Jin had many boyfriends and he would like to be one of them. Yu Jin's senior told him that those were rumours as Yu Jin was a loyal lover.


At dinner, one of the old workers refused to work with Yu Jin as he was "too experienced to be ordered around by a little girl". That turned out to be a joke as he knew Yu Jin for a while already. He said there were three things Yu Jin could not do: drink, tell lies, and flirt with man. Man Yeong was confused about what he heard. Later, he apologized to Yu Jin about his prior accusations and told her that he was confused about Yu Jin’s real personality. At this point, Choi Lim showed up.


Next morning, Choi Lim asked Yu Jin why her notebook in Man Yeong's room and what she was doing there. Yu Jin apologized. Choi Lim reminded Yu Jin that as she has Sang Hyuk already, it would be better not to see Man Yeong.
That evening, Choi Lim accused Man Yeong for taking the drunk Yu Jin into his hotel room. She claimed that Yu Jin told her to be careful of Man Yeong as he flirted with her even though he knew that she was engaged...


Back in the hotel, Yu Jin found Man Yeong in her room. Man Yeong asked her whether she liked him, and whether she wanted to hurt Choi Lim by telling her what has happened in his hotel room. Man Yeong told her that he had no interest in girls like Yu Jin and reminded her not to waste her time...


Next morning, Yu Jin found out that the storage area caught fire the night before due to the drunken old worker, and Marcian decided to fire the worker. Yu Jin explained to Man Yeong that the worker was drunk because it was the anniversary of his dead wife. Man Yeong told her that it was the principle (as the old work did not carry out his duty), and insisted on firing him. Yu Jin asked him to reconsider as the old worker only got drunk because he missed his dead wife. Man Yeong refused. He told her that the way to remember a dead person was to forget. Yu Jin told him that he just did not understand the void a dead person left behind ... Eventually, Yu Jin told him that if he insisted on firing the old worker, she would also quit.


Next morning, Yu Jin picked two cards from the deck of Tarot cards. The one on her right hand, "the lovers", symbolized her problem. The one on her left hand, "wheel of fortune", was her answer... Later at the construction site, Yu Jin was told that Man Yeong had decided not to fire the old worker...


Man Yeong went to see Choi Lim at her boutique and overheard Choi Lim's conversation with Zhen Suk. On confirmation with Zhen Suk, he realized that he did look like the deceased Kang Joon Sang, and Yu Jin had not been fabricating stories. Man Yeong intended to apologize to Yu Jin, but did not say anything as Sang Hyuk was with Yu Jin ...

The next day, Yu Jin met Man Yeong at the construction site. Yu Jin thanked him about not firing the old worker. As she walked away, she dropped a Tarot card. Man Yeong picked it up and it was the "Wheel of fortune" card. While he was pondering, Yu Jin saw some construction materials falling. Instinctively, she rushed toward him and pushed him away ...

Yu Jin saw was standing Min Yeong under the path of some falling construction materials. In order to save him, she got herself injured and was sent to the hospital.


Sang Hyuk and Choi Lim showed up at the hospital. Sang Hyuk was agitated that Yu Jin was injured because of Man Yeong. When Yu Jin woke up, the first thing she asked was whether Man Yeong was injured... Choi Lim thanked her for saving Man Yeong but Sang Hyuk pointed out that Yu Jin would do so even if that was not Man Yeong... Man Yeong apologised about the accident and thanked Yu Jin. He offered to hire someone to look after her but was refused by Sang Hyuk... Outside the hospital, Sang Hyuk told Man Yeong that the person Yu Jin wanted to save was not Man Yeong...


In his hotel room, Man Yeong asked Choi Lim why she lied to him about Kang Joon Sang, and he did not want to see her for a while.
In the hospital, Sang Hyuk asked Yu Jin whether she saved Man Yeong because he looked like Joon Sang. Yu Jin admitted that she just could not forget Joon Sang, and asked Sang Hyuk what he wanted her to do...


The day Yu Jin was discharged from the hospital, Man Yeong showed up with a bunch of flowers. He drove her home but stopped halfway to talk. Man Yeong apologized for the misunderstanding earlier as he did not realize that he really looked like Joon Sang. Then, he asked Yu Jin about Joon Sang. She told him that often she mistook Man Yeong as Joon Sang as she could not forget Joon Sang... Man Yeong asked for her forgiveness. Yu Jin told her that there was nothing to forgive in a misunderstanding... At the end, Man Yeong stretched out his hand, and told Yu Jin that he would like to start their relation afresh: by introducing himself as Lee Man Yeong, he reminded Yu Jin not to mistake him as Kang Joon Sang...


Upon recovery, Yu Jin went back to work on the ski field project. She found an old piano in a room, and played a few notes from "the first time". Man Yeong came in, telling her that he knew the tune too. When Yu Jin asked him to play, he replied that he did not know how to play the piano.


Choi Lim told Sang Hyuk that Man Yeong broke up with her because of Yu Jin. Realizing Yu Jin was slipping away from him, Sang Hyuk insisted at a meeting that the upcoming concert to be held at the ski field... Later, he went home to seek his parents’ approval for marrying Yu Jin, but was turned down by his mother.


Walking at the ski field, Man Yeong asked Yu Jin why she loved Sang Hyuk. Yu Jin replied that Sang Hyuk was a gentle and responsible man who understood her. Man Yeong smiled and commented that one did not really need a reason to love... and when Man Yeong asked Yu Jin why she loved Joon Sang, she could not name any reason at all. She admitted that nothing much has happened between her and Joon Sang 10 years ago... Their conversation was interrupted when Yu Jin's senior told her that her mum was unwell.


Man Yeong drove Yu Jin back to her house in Chuan Chun, and Yu Jin's sister also mistook him for Joon Sang. Man Yeong asked Yu Jin's sister about Joon Sang, and the lake that Yu Jin often went to...


On the way back to ski field, Man Yeong took a detour to the lake. Walking along the woods, Yu Jin remembered the fond times she shared with Joon Sang... yet the one one standing and breathing in front of her was Man Yeong, not Joon Sang. To hide her tears, she covered herself with a hat... Yu Jin told Man Yeong about Joon Sang's story of the man from the shadowland... Then she asked Man Yeong why he took her to the lake. Man Yeong could tell that all Yu Jin saw were dull and sad memories. He added that Yu Jin couldn’t appreciate the scenic landscape around her as she has locked herself in the shadowland...


Slowly, Man Yeong found himself getting attracted to Yu Jin... Man Yeong asked his senior how it felt to be in love, and was told that it was a lonely feeling. Man Yeong went to the piano, putting his fingers on the keyboard and started playing "the first time"...


Man Yeong and Yu Jin went up to the top of the mountain via the cable car to inspect the construction site. The cable car service stopped operating in the evening due to strong winds. Man Yeong and Yu Jin were thus stranded at the site. At the site, Man Yeong lighted a fire to keep warm... Yu Jin feeling uncomfortable, and walked away to avoid him.. Later, she found Man Yeong has fallen asleep in front of the fireplace. She could not resist but taking his glasses off and this act woke Man Yeong.


The awake Man Yeong stood up from the chair, and asked her when she would stop thinking about the dead person... and if Joon Sang is still alive, would she still love him so much. Yu Jin reminded him that that was none of his business. Man Yeong told her that he might not know what love is, but from his point of view, Yu Jin's clinging on to the dead Joon Sang was not love either. He asked her to wake up and return to reality, as Joon Sang was dead. Yu Jin was hurt, and she asked why Man Yeong treated her that way.


Eventually, Man Yeong uttered, "Because I like you ..."

Man Yeong told Yu Jin that he has fallen for her. Yu Jin could not accept it and ran out of the building. Man Yeong waited, but Yu Jin did not return. His search for her in the snowfield ended fruitless. Eventually, he found Yu Jin asleep at a corner of another room. Looking at her sleeping form, he felt very much relieved. He left after covering her with his coat.


Next day, Man Yeong told Yu Jin that he had no intention to apologize for his earlier words but Yu Jin replied that she had no feelings for him. In fact, no one could replace Joon Sang. Man Yeong asked Yu Jin what did Sang Hyuk meant to her and forced her to reveal the identity of true real love. Sang Hyuk arrived and told Man Yeong to leave Yu Jin alone.


Choi Lim told Man Yeong that he was only a substitute for Joon Sang but Man Yeong told her that once the string was untied, one could put it back anymore (i.e. he has fallen in love with Yu Jin already and could not turn back)...
Sang Yuk took Yu Jin back into her room. He asked her to leave the ski field with him but she refused. When he asked her why she did not reply to Man Yeong's question on who she was in love with. Yu Jin did not reply to that either and Sang Hyuk left in anger... Man Yeong appeared and Yu Jin told him that the person she should love is Sang Hyuk... Choi Lim slapped Yu Jin, accusing her for snatching both Joon Sang and Man Yeong away from her.


In the evening, Yu Jin called Sang Hyuk to apologize but Sang Hyuk did not say anything over the phone...


Man Yeong told Yu Jin that he broke up with Choi Lim because he did not love her anymore. He felt much more relieved after telling Yu Jin that he has fallen in love with her, but has no intention to pressurize her...


Next morning, Yu Jin decided to go back to see Sang Hyuk but missed the bus. Man Yeong drove her to the station, bought her a ticket, and asked her to return from Seoul with a smile.


In Seoul, Yu Jin talked to Sang Hyuk. Sang Hyuk told her that he has decided to change, and would not hold things in anymore. Yu Jin asked whether they can have dinner but Sang Hyuk refused, and went drinking by himself. He called Yu Jin (without dialing) to apologize and told her that he was happy to see her in the afternoon.


At the ski field, Yu Jin lied to Man Yeong that she has made up with Sang Hyuk. Man Yeong realized that she was lying and asked her what she wanted to do: anything she wanted to do, he would do it for her as he was in love with her. He took her to the snowfield: if she wanted to cry, that was the best place as no one can hear her. As he walked away, Yu Jin broke down in tears.


In Marcian's office, Man Yeong told Choi Lim that he wanted to break up with her, but would like to remain friends. Choi Lim begged him to reconsider but he refused to change his mind. The upset Choi Lim told Sang Hyuk’s mum that Yu Jin was working with her boyfriend and Sang Hyuk was worried about this so-called working relationship...


Yu Jin told Man Yeong that she was going to return to Seoul for Sang Hyuk's mother birthday, and he offered to drive her. When he went to her room, he saw Sang Hyuk and Yu Jin came out. Man Yeong pretended nothing has happened and walked away.


At Sang Hyuk’s house, his mum was not friendly towards Yu Jin. She asked Yu Jin if the matters that was going on at the ski field was purely work-related. On hearing the conversation, Sang Hyuk asked his mum whom she heard that from, and why she did not like Yu Jin. Sang Hyuk's mum got upset, slapped him, and Sang Hyuk ran out of the house with Yu Jin.


At the room in the ski field, Man Yeong's senior invited him for a drink, but Man Yeong told him that he only want to drink water, cool down and think about something. Man Yeong's senior asked him why he normally loved to talk but at the crucial moment, he was so quiet. Man Yeong, uttering to himself, that he would like to tell Yu Jin that he did not want her to see Sang Hyuk... tell her that he wanted to hold her hands, tell her that he really love her...


With no place to stay, Sang Hyuk checked into a hotel. He had a few drinks and Yu Jin was sitting there. When Yu Jin went to the bathroom, her phone rang. Sang Hyuk picked it up and it was Man Yeong. Sang Hyuk was furious about the call. When Yu Jin came out from the bathroom, he attempted to rape her. Yu Jin managed to escape.


Man Yeong called her the second time but found her crying. He asked where she was, drove over to comfort her, and they embraced.
(scene changed to airport) A woman arrived in Korea and it was was Kang Mei Xi. Over the phone, she asked about Joon Sang...

Man Yeong drove Yu Jin back to the snowfield from Seoul. She was asleep when they reached the destination. Looking at Yu Jin asleep, Man Yeong told her that he would like to believe she loved him... Gently stroking her hair, Man Yeong woke her up... He got off the car to get her a hot drink. When he returned, he found Yu Jin’s note on the windscreen of the car, thanking him, and she has gone back to her room.


The next evening, Yu Jin sat by herself in the snow, confused about what has happened the night before. Man Yeong looked at her from afar, sneaked closeby, tried to cheer her up... she smiled... Walking in the windy ski field, he removed his scarf and put it on her. At first, she refused, but he eventually put it on for her. Man Yeong reminded her that in life, one had to make choices, no matter how tough it was. Then, he grabbed her hand, she tried to escape, but again, he held her hand.


Yu Jin received a call from Sang Hyuk, who asked her to meet him at the coffee shop. Sang Hyuk apologized but Yu Jin told him that she did not want to talk about it. Instead, she asked whether he could reconsider about getting married, as she felt confused and tired. Sang Hyuk asked whether that it was related to Man Yeong... Yu Jin asked him why couldn't they just be good friends, like years ago ... but Sang Hyuk refused...


Sang Hyuk went home, asking his mum to go the ski field with him. His mum did not want to go. Sang Hyuk explained that all the things she heard about Yu Jin were only rumors and he believed in Yu Jin. His mum eventually agreed to go with him.


Yu Jin went back to the ski field and talked to Man Yeong. She admitted that she liked Man Yeong but could not like him. When she was with Man Yeong, she thought of Sang Hyuk... when she was with Sang Hyuk, she thought of Man Yeong... At the crossroad, she could not make a decision. Thus, she has decided not to marry Sang Hyuk, nor stay by Man Yeong's side for she did not want to owe either of them anything. She asked for Man Yeong's assistance in executing her decision. Man Yeong refused, telling her that that was giving up, not a decision...
Sang Hyuk and his crew arrived at the ski field to prepare for the concert. He went to Man Yeong’s office to discuss about Yu Jin. He told

Man Yeong that when Yu Jin looked at him, she was thinking about Kang Joon Sang, and therefore, it was immoral to use this to keep her. Man Yeong replied that it was Yu Jin's choice, and Sang Hyuk insisted that Yu Jin would not be leaving him.


Sang Hyuk introduced Yu Jin to his senior over dinner. In front of his senior, he tried to show that things were fine between them. Man Yeong was sitting close by when Sang Hyuk told his senior that he and Yu Jin were getting married soon. Man Yeong overheard this, walked out the restaurant and stood in the snowfield alone...


When Sang Hyuk and Yu Jin were alone, Yu Jin told him that she was serious about not marrying him. Sang Hyuk refused to listen, and Yu Jin left. He chased after her, and told her all he asked was for her to be with him. Yu Jin refused. When they were arguing, Man Yeong appeared, and told Yu Jin to leave first. Sang Hyuk got angry, and pulled Man Yeong up on his collar. Man Yeong challenged him, saying that Sang Hyuk would never dare to do so as it was wrong to hit someone. Sang Hyuk remembered that these were the exact words used by Kang Joon Sang ten years ago …


Sang Hyuk invited his parents and friends to the concert at the ski field, and mentioned that he has something to announce.
Next morning, Yu Jin apologized to Man Yeong about hurting his feelings. Man Yeong told her that that was not important: the important thing was to make a decision, and expressed it clearly...


Sang Hyuk's parents arrived at the snowfield. Zhen Yu mistook Man Yeong as Joon Sang... On the way to the concert venue, Sang Hyuk's mum forgot her wallet and returned to the hotel. On her way back, she saw Yu Jin putting a scarf on for Man Yeong...


Yu Jin was on her way out with Man Yeong and some colleagues when Sang Hyuk dragged her to the concert. Yu Jin was happy to see her mum there. Towards the end of the concert, the compeer invited Sang Hyuk onto the stage. The compare invited Yu Jin, as Sang Hyuk's fiance, up to the stage as well. In front of the crowd, Sang Hyuk announced that they planned to be married next month. Man Yeong wanted to leave but was stopped by his senior.


After the concert ended, Sang Hyuk’s mum refused to let them get married. She asked Yu Jin whether she really loved Sang Hyuk. Man Yeong came in, and Sang Hyuk asked him to leave. Man Yeong apologized to Sang Hyuk's mother for any misunderstanding, which provoked Sang Hyuk further. Yu Jin started crying. She ran out after telling everyone that she did not want to marry Sang Hyuk. Both Man Yeong and Sang Hyuk gave chase. Man Yeong found Yu Jin first, and they embraced... When Sang Hyuk found them, Yu Jin was on the way out of the ski resort in Man Yeong’s car...


Man Yeong drove her to his house. When he opened the door, he found his mum, Kang Mei Xi, inside...

Man Yeong greeted Mei Xi, and introduced Yu Jin to her. They sat and talked. Man Yeong told Yu Jin there was a scenic river nearby. Mei Xi reminded him that he has almost drowned there when he was 7. Man Yeong corrected that was something that happened in US. Mei Xi apologized for mixing things up... Man Yeong told Mei Xi that Yu Jin used to stay in Chuan Chun. This startled Mei Xi and she uttered that she has never been there...


After Mei Xi left, Man Yeong and Yu Jin sat outside and talked. Yu Jin asked whether Man Yeong knew about the polaris. She told Man Yeong that Joon Sang told her to follow the polaris if she is lost. Man Yeong asked if she felt lost... Yu Jin said she has hurt the people close to her today, maybe they would not forgive her ... Man Yeong replied if others did not understand and have deserted her, he would still be waiting for her at the same place, so she could find her way back...


Sang Hyuk went back to the building, and told everyone that Yu Jin has gone back to Seoul. He revealed that on his mum's birthday, he did something he should not do to Yu Jin. Thus, he wanted to announce their wedding in such a hurry. Both his parents and Yu Jin’s mum were shocked about what his words ...


At the corridor, Choi Lim told Sang Hyuk that she knew he has been lying and Yu Jin must be with Man Yeong. Sang Hyuk told her that that was not her business... Yu Jin's mum found out from Sang Hyuk that Yu Jin was with Man Yeong. Feeling ashamed, Yu Jin's mum left the ski field.


Next morning, when Yu Jin woke up, she found Man Yeong has prepared breakfast for her. However, he was nowhere in the house. She took a walk, and saw a cheerful Man Yeong came back with a fish. While he was preparing lunch clumsily, Man Yeong cut his finger. She took over and completed the cooking...


Yu Jin called her senior and realized that her mother has returned to Seoul. Man Yeong drove her home. Her mum was waiting for her at the dining table. Her mum reminded her that Sang Hyuk was a good man and Yu Jin should not hurt him like this... Yu Jin confessed that she did not love Sang Hyuk. On hearing this, Yu Jin's mum left in anger and disappointment...


Sang Hyuk asked Yu Jin why was she doing that to him... afterall, Man Yeong was not Joon Sang... and why did she choose Man Yeong? Yu Jin answered that she had no reason. Before leaving, Sang Hyuk told her that he would not forgive her.


Man Yeong went to the hotel to see Mei Xi. The latter asked about Yu Jin. Man Yeong told her that Yu Jin has been in love with a guy who looked very much like him, but is now dead. On hearing that, Mei Xi dropped her cup.


Zhen Suk could not bear to see what was happening between Yu Jin and Sang Hyuk. She packed her luggage and moved to Choi Lim's shop. At Choi Lim's shop, Zhen Suk found Choi Lim drinking. The latter accused her for telling Man Yeong about Joon Sang. In tears, Choi Lim said everyone is always on Yu Jin's side...


Next morning, Man Yeong went to Yu Jin’s place. He saw her walking by herself, and he followed her from behind. Yu Jin turned around, found him there, and smiled... They had a snow fight... Man Yeong hide his gift inside a snowball. He threw the snowball at Yu Jin and asked her to broke it open... Inside the snowball, Yu Jin found a polaris necklace... She accepted his gift, and put it on ... In return, she decorated Man Yeong's car with some polaris stickers...


Lung Kok called Yu Jin. He told her than Sang Hyuk is in the hospital, refusing to eat and sleep after quitting his job. He asked Yu Jin to go back to Sang Hyuk, but Yu Jin refused. Man Yeong came in, and Yu Jin told him that Sang Hyuk was not doing well... Sang Hyuk’s mother went to see Yu Jin, asking her to see her son. Again, Yu Jin refused.


Man Yeong heard that Sang Hyuk was in the hospital. He went to see Yu Jin, found her alone and did not want to disturb her. He went to the hospital himself, found Sang Hyuk's mum crying by his bedside...


Man Yeong told Yu Jin that he was envious of Sang Hyuk, and as they have spent so much time together, she must be worried about him. However, Yu Jin replied she did not want to see Sang Hyuk as he would be fine...


Next day, Man Yeong drove her to the hospital. In the car, Yu Jin told her that she was worried about Sang Hyuk but she did not want to worry about him anymore. Man Yeong told her that he would wait for her return. Yu Jin asked him what if she did not return, and what if she cannot return. Man Yeong replied that that it would be fine as he could bear to see her in such pain... Before she left the car, Man Yeong told her that the polaris would always be there, and asked her whether she could find her way back. Yu Jin replied that she would return. He sat in the car, waiting... while she went up to Sang Hyuk’s room.


Sang Hyuk woke up when Yu Jin entered the room. Yu Jin apologized but Sang Hyuk did not accept it. He asked her to go. Yu Jin stepped outside the ward. While at the waiting room, the doctors rushed into Sang Hyuk’s room. Yu Jin ran in, and started crying...


Man Yeong sat in the car, looking at the polaris on the inner-roof of his car... rain started to fall... Yu Jin did not return ... Man Yeong drove away alone...


Yu Jin decided to handover the ski field project to her senior. On her way out, Yu Jin told Man Yeong that she was not going to apologize to him, as he owned the most precious part of her, i.e., her heart. She hugged him: the engagement ring from Sang Hyuk was on her finger again... in agony, Man Yeong thanked her while she turned and left...
