Gonzalo finds Victoria and kisses her on the neck, then on the mouth, then leaves. Outside on the porch, she curses him and she asks God how Carolina could have feelings for her own cousin. As she daydreams about Diego, thinks about her and damns all woman when Lucrecia arrives.
German listens as Victoria tells Maria that she and Carolina have to leave the ranch immediately. Lucrecia continues her attempt at seduction while Victoria tells Maria that Carolina is in love with Alex. Carolina’s working with one of the horses when Alex arrives and tells her they’re going to go riding. Maria thinks Carolina is really Victoria’a and doesn’t know that Carolina is really Mariana and one of the Montero sisters’ daughter.
As German listens, Victoria tells her she thinks Gladys knows that she’s Luisa and is going to fire her. Alex and Carolina almost kiss. Christa tells Gladys she saw Alex leaving with Carolina as Victoria eavesdrops. Christa tells Gladys that Renata’s going to be angry if Alex doesn’t marry Isabela and Gladys says he’ll tell everybody that Alex isn’t Gonzalo’s son and that she had an affair during her honeymoon because Gonzalo was always drunk and doesn’t know that he never touched her.
Victoria realizes that Carolina and Alex aren’t cousins and wonders who Renato is. Isablea asks Martina about Patricio and she learns he’s not a Montero as Martin and Florencia ask Patricio why he would want to hurt Alex. Isabela says it’s too bad that Patricio isn’t a real Montero because she likes him better than Alex while Alex tells Carolina that his relationship with Isabela is a mistake and that there’s another woman he wants and tries to kiss her, but she runs away.
Alex says he has no doubt that Carolina feels the same way about him that he does about her and says that he’s going to fight for her. Rocio finds Victoria and asks her where she’s been. Victoria says she had a headache and needed some fresh air and Rocio tells her Gladys is looking for her.
When Rocio leaves, Carolina arrives crying and tells Victoria that she likes Alex a lot and that she thinks he feels the same way about her. She says love hurts, Victoria agrees and Carolina asks if she’s in love with someone too. Victoria says no.
Alex and Lucrecia have a meal and he tells Lucrecia that since she’s a Montero their relationship would only be a brief adventure and that he would never marry her. Victoria denies liking Diego and tells Carolina she was mistaken earlier when she prohibited Carolina from having a relationship with Alex. Martina arrives and tells Victoria Gladys wants to talk to her. Lucrecia tells Diego she’s not an adventure and that they will get married. He tells her he thinks she wants to marry him and by doing so, her father thinks to control him through her. She insists she’s not a spy. She kisses him and leaves.
Lucrecia tells Victoria that she’s sure Carolina likes Diego and that she just came from breakfast with Diego. She also says Victoria did a good thing when she went to Diego’s home to protect her daughter and that Carolina isn’t the woman for Deigo and insists that Victoria keep Carolina away from her. Victoria tries to tell her that Carolina doesn’t like him like that. She tells Victoria that she likes and declares herself the future Senora Ibarra. Victoria congratulates her and asks when they’ll marry. Lucrecia says it’s a secret and tells her not to tell anybody.
Diego asks Maria about Victoria and tells her that German told him that she was leaving. Maria tells Diego Victoria’s leaving because she wants to protect her daughter. “Protect her from me?” he asks. She says she wants to protect Carolina from something else, but also wants to protect her (Victoria‘s) own feelings from Diego.
Carolina tells Amalia that she and Alex almost kissed. Isabela overhears Amalia insulting her and Isabela starts a fight. Carolina tries to break up the fight and calls for help. Help comes in the form of Don Gregorio who reprimands both girls and asks Carolina who started it. Carolina tells him Isabela started it and he asks to see them both (Amalia and Isabela) separately in his office.
Diego asks Maria if Victoria thinks he’s going to do something bad to her. Gonzalo speaks to Lucrecia alone while Victoria asks Rocio if Lucrecia is crazy. Rocio says that a lot of people think so. Alone with Gonzalo, they are amazed at the fact that the whole world thinks erroneously that Lucrecia is crazy and that Gonzalo is a drunk when they truth is they have bad intentions. Lucrecia learns that Gonzalo wants Victoria.
Victoria wants to make Alex and Carolina a big part of her plans for revenge. Diego tells German he’s going to fight for Victoria. Miguel tells Macario that he’s going with Don G to town to report Diego Ibarra’s ranch and tells Macario that it was his idea and his father is going to thank him for it. Macario tells him that Don G and Ruben already went without him. Miguel is upset because his father took his idea and didn’t take him to town with him and Macario tries to talk him in joining him and Patricio in trying to get their hands on Don G legacy.
Diego and German chatter about Diego’s feelings for Victoria. Gonzalo tells Lucrecia he’s going to tell Macario to find a cabin where Victoria can live. Isabela yells at Carolina when Don G and Amalia leave. Alex tells her to step and she grabs his arm and pulls him away. Alex tells Isabela that Amelia’s a little bit crazy when Gladys and Christa arrive for the meal celebrating Isabela’s arrival. Gladys tells Victoria to go to her room and that she wants to talk to her alone. Alex asks Victoria what’s wrong, but she tells him to ask his mother and leaves.
Victoria decides that if Gladys wants to fire her, she blackmail her with the knowledge that Alex isn’t really Don Gregorio’s grandson. Victoria realizes that the reason why she doesn’t want to leave is really because she doesn’t want to be far away from Diego Ibarra. Diego learns someone’s there to inspect the ranch. Gladys arrives and tells Victoria she’s fired and to get off her land. Victoria tell Gladys she can’t make her go because Victoria knows that Gladys cheated on Gonzalo and that Alex isn’t really a Montero.
